Elizabeth SSAT Tutoring FAQ
The Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT) is a standardized test that many private schools use as a factor in their admissions process. Students from grades three through eleven can take the SSAT. There are three different levels, including elementary, middle, and upper. The elementary level can be taken by students in grades three and four. The middle level is offered to students in grades five through seven. Finally, the upper level exam is available to students in grades eight and above.
The test consists of four sections, including quantitative, verbal reasoning, reading comprehension, and an essay. The quantitative section consists of geometry and spatial sense, measurement and probability, algebra and functions, operations, and properties. The verbal reasoning section includes analogy questions and vocabulary. The reading comprehension section requires students to answer questions based on reading passages. The essay section does not count as a part of your child's total score, but it is sent to any school they are applying to so that the school can assess their skills as a write. As such, it is still a good idea for your child to prepare for this section.
The SSAT can be difficult to prepare for because it involves a great deal of information across a wide range of subject areas. If you want to strive to ensure that your child performs their best on the SSAT, you should think about connecting them with a private tutor. Varsity Tutors will find your child a hand-picked SSAT tutor in Elizabeth who will love what they teach, which allows them to make your child's study sessions engaging.
An SSAT tutor in Elizabeth, NJ, can offer your child a more individualized, engaging, and structured learning experience. This allows them to work at their own pace and to focus on the areas where they are having the most difficulty.
An expert SSAT tutor in Elizabeth is an excellent way to try to help your child prepare for their exam. Their tutor could help them review material that is likely to be on the exam. Their tutor can also offer them study and test taking tips that could benefit them on exam day.
Your child's private SSAT tutor is able to meet them at a time and location that is most convenient for both you and your child. So if they would prefer to study at your house, at Mattano Park, at the Elizabeth Public Library, or at Coffee House, their tutor can meet them there. Their tutor is also available to meet them either in person or face-to-face online. Call our directors to find your child an SSAT tutor in Elizabeth, NJ, who can try to help them work to try to attain more confidence on the SSAT.
