I am primarily an SAT and writing tutor with two years of experience and over 60 former students. I have spent hundreds of hours familiarizing myself with dozens of real SAT tests and SAT format-specific strategies. While a tutor, and later general manager, at a boutique university admissions consulting company in Cairo Egypt, I applied my teaching experience to a leading role developing SAT curricula for a variety of skill levels.
Though I have played a number of roles as an educator, I take a special pleasure in prepping students for the SAT. It is a fundamentally understandable test with a limited number of patterns and question types that can be mastered with practice. The formulaic nature of the test gives me the privilege and joy of being able to reveal a manageable and orderly structure to students who had previously seen only a confusing mess of problems.
Similarly, I take great joy in walking students through the mental process of clarifying their ideas and assumptions that is necessary for the development of effective persuasive writing.
I am open-minded and eager for adventure. I've spent 3 of the past 4 years living in the Middle East between Syria and Egypt. And I've recently completed filming of a documentary I am directing about the explosion of a new post-revolution dance and music culture among young, urban Egyptian men.
