If you've been researching and planning to start a Master of Business Administration degree program, you likely know that the Graduate Management Admissions Test, or GMAT, is an important test that can have an impact on the application process. When admissions boards at schools like Gonzaga University or Eastern Washington University look at your GMAT score, they make a judgment about how well you might fare in their programs. This is why it's important to do your best.
Taking this test is perhaps one of the most stressful parts of the business school application process, whether you're an undergraduate preparing to continue your education or a working professional who is looking to improve their career prospects. If you're interested in getting a little help to prepare, a Spokane GMAT prep course could be beneficial. If you'd prefer one-on-one attention from a Spokane GMAT tutor, Varsity Tutors can help you make that connection too.
What can I expect from Spokane GMAT prep?
There are four sections in the GMAT: Verbal Reasoning, Integrated Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and an Analytical Writing component. You'll have about 3.5 hours to complete the test. Here, we'll explore the different pieces that make up the GMAT so that you have some idea of what you can expect to see on the test. There are three different section outlines that you can choose from for the test. We're going to start with the Verbal Reasoning section.
The Verbal Reasoning section examines your ability to draw inferences from information and interpret what you read. Questions on critical reasoning, reading comprehension, and sentence correction are all part of this section. There are 36 questions, and you'll have 65 minutes to finish the section.
In the Quantitative Reasoning section, there are questions that test your knowledge of quantitative problem-solving, interpretation of graphical data, and mathematical reasoning. These questions are designed to give admissions teams an idea of how well you use logic and assess given information for problem-solving and data sufficiency. There are 31 questions. You'll have 62 minutes to work through them. It measures your abilities in regards to problem-solving and data sufficiency.
The Integrated Reasoning section examines your ability to judge the quality of information from a variety of sources and how well you use that information or combine pieces of information from different sources to solve problems or come to a conclusion. There are 12 questions in this section, and you'll have half an hour to complete them.
The last section is a computer-based Analytical Writing Assessment that tells evaluators how strong your abilities in critical thinking and written English communication are. In a span of 30 minutes, you'll get an argument to analyze and respond to. Your task is to look at the reasoning behind the argument and to critique it. Part of the purpose of this section is to judge your ability to evaluate and organize arguments and to plan responses to information that you're given. You'll also be required to provide examples in your response to the argument that is presented.
What are the benefits of Spokane GMAT prep?
You have two options for Spokane GMAT preparation. You can take part in one-on-one instruction with an academic mentor, or, you can join test prep classes that are designed for groups of students to take part in at the same time. Both methods for studying and test prep have benefits. At Varsity Tutors, we can help you find what you need in either method. You could even create a plan that combines a Spokane GMAT prep class and individual sessions with a Spokane GMAT tutor. It's not uncommon for students to use both types of academic coaching services when they are preparing for a big test like the GMAT.
If you work better in a collaborative environment when you have opportunities for lively discussion, taking part in a Spokane GMAT prep class can help you clarify the tough topics. It brings interactive study sessions to you, no matter where you are. You can have discussions with other students in your course in real time, and you might find additional assistance in those discussions. You may learn about study aids you didn't know before or find clarity after learning about other people's study strategies. This kind of instruction gives a unique amount of flexibility that you may not get in other academic coaching models. You can choose whether your classes last two weeks or four, and new sections begin each week.
If you learn better when you have the focused attention of an individual tutor, we can introduce you to a Spokane GMAT prep tutor who will create a schedule that works for you and has flexibility. An academic coach who works one-on-one with you can create a plan of study that works for your learning style, your likes and dislikes, and your schedule. They get to know you, starting in the very first session, and they'll create a plan they believe will benefit you the most. They'll determine which study guides and other pieces might help you to understand complex topics and recall that information so that you perform to the best of your abilities on test day. You can meet with an academic tutor in a public place where you're comfortable, or you can connect virtually, with Varsity Tutors' Live Learning Platform.

...I previously taught high school for several years and also have tutoring experience in a wide variety of subject areas. At this time, I focus almost exclusively on assisting students seeking top scores on graduate admissions exams, including the GRE, GMAT and LSAT. In my free time I enjoy watching all kinds of sports, reading, playing board games, going to concerts, and spending time with my friends, family, and 4-pound Chihuahua Pinkie.... My teaching philosophy is essentially that all students have the capacity and desire to learn. Some individuals may just need individualized instruction in particular subject areas or with study skills and time management. I think that building confidence is one of the most key components to academic success, and I strive to do so with every student.

I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.
