What can San Diego GMAT prep cover?
In all, you have three-and-a-half hours to complete the four sections in the GMAT: the Analytical Writing Assessment, Verbal Reasoning, Quantitative Reasoning, and Integrated Reasoning. There are a variety of questions designed to test your abilities throughout each section. Read on to get a closer look at the exam's contents. While you have three different sequence options to pick from on test day, we're going to start with the Quantitative Reasoning section.
There are 31 multiple-choice questions in the Quantitative Reasoning section. You will have 62 minutes to solve the complex problems that work to assess your abilities in terms of problem-solving and data sufficiency. You'll need to demonstrate strong skills in applying logical and analytical reasoning to different situations, as well as your ability to interpret and evaluate graphics data.
The Integrated Reasoning section measures your ability to synthesize and evaluate information from a variety of sources to solve complex problems. There are four types of questions: multi-source reasoning, two-part analysis, graphics interpretation, and table analysis. These are divided between 12 multiple-choice problems, some of which will require several responses. Others will allow you access to a basic calculator. You will face problems that ask you to evaluate a trade-off, discern relationships based on graphical imagery, or identify discrepancies between data sources, among other skills. You are given 30 minutes to complete this section.
You are given 65 minutes to solve the Verbal Reasoning section, which spans 36 multiple-choice questions. There are three types of questions: critical reasoning, reading comprehension, and sentence correction. This portion of the exam tests you in a variety of important skills. Reading comprehension questions come with a passage that you will need to use to solve the corresponding questions, which task you with identifying supporting ideas, logical structure, style, and more. Critical reasoning, on the other hand, focuses on shorter passages that you will need to evaluate or present arguments against or for. Sentence correction questions assess your understanding of grammar, structure, and expression.
The Analytical Writing Assessment section allows you to spend 30 minutes analyzing and responding to an argument. You will need to discuss your analysis of a given argument, which may include general business or another topic. You will need to have strong organizational and time management skills to fully develop your thoughts and ideas, and you must use evidence from the argument to support your response. This section is assessed by an electronic system and by trained evaluators to obtain a more thorough score.
What are the benefits of different types of San Diego GMAT prep?
There are two main categories of San Diego GMAT prep: prep courses and personalized tutoring. Varsity Tutors can get you set up with either option. Since each test prep option has its own set of benefits, it isn't uncommon for potential business students to participate in both. Let's explore your options more deeply.
If you're interested in enrolling in a San Diego GMAT prep class, we can help you sign up for this collaborative and interactive online instruction. Sessions are held in two- or four-week terms, with new sessions starting up every week. Online classes allow you to participate anywhere that you learn best. We can help you sign up for live sessions that fit your busy schedule, whether you'd rather study during your lunch break or over the weekend.
Alongside your classmates and instructor, you can attend each live session to join in on GMAT-focused activities and discussions. Your instructor aims to help you and your peers work to build the skills the exam will test you on while introducing you to unique test-taking techniques, like ways to quickly outline your argument analysis. You can even work one-on-one with your test prep mentor in between sessions if you find something particularly challenging.
Some students learn better when they work alongside a tutor in a one-on-one setting. We can help you start studying under the guidance of a GMAT mentor who can provide thoroughly customized online or in-person sessions. Unlike traditional learning, tutoring lets you work with an instructor who can identify your learning personality, interests, academic and testing goals, strengths, and areas of opportunity to develop a study plan that addresses your individual needs without rehashing the material that you are already well-versed in. If you're already thoroughly prepared for the Analytical Writing Assessment, your instructor can focus your attention on the synthesis and problem-solving skills you will need for the Integrated Reasoning portion. Your mentor can work to help you figure out the ideal approach to your GMAT preparation efforts.
How can I sign up for GMAT review in San Diego?

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.
