Does Raleigh-Durham GMAT Prep Review All Sections of the Test?

Yes, GMAT prep can help you review all sections of the test. There are four sections and three available sequences of those sections you can choose from. Each section will test your ability and knowledge in several different areas. In order to provide you some insight into what you can expect to find in each section, let's break down each one in detail.

The Analytical Writing Assessment requires you to read an argument and analyze it. After reading the argument, you will need to plan and write your response. Organizing and fully developing your ideas is very important. Your score will be dependent on the quality of your writing and expressed thoughts, your ability to recognize and evaluate important aspects of the argument, and your command of written English. You are also required to provide applicable reasons and examples to support your argument. You are only allowed 30 minutes to complete this assessment, so you will want to work efficiently and quickly.

In the Verbal Reasoning section, you will be required to answer 36 multiple-choice questions in 65 minutes. There are 3 different types of questions in this section: Reading Comprehension, Sentence Correction, and Critical Reasoning. The Reading Comprehension questions will require you to answer questions after reading a passage. These questions focus on your ability to understand words and statements, draw inferences, follow concept development, and comprehend logical relationships. Sentence structure questions are simply questions based on the grammar and structure of an underlined sentence in a passage. You will identify the answer that most effectively makes the sentence concise and clear. On the critical reasoning questions, you will read a short passage and answer questions about it. You will form an action plan, evaluate, and make arguments.

The Quantitative Reasoning section involves two types of questions: problem-solving and data sufficiency. You will use logical and analytical reasoning skills to choose one of five answer options. The data sufficiency questions require you to analyze a problem, recognize associated data from two statements provided, and identify at what point you have enough information to answer the question. Like the Verbal Reasoning section, this section is also multiple-choice. You are given 62 minutes to answer all 31 questions.

Lastly, the Integrated Reasoning section assesses many different skills, such as the ability to combine information presented to you in the form of number data, graphics, and text, solve problems from associated data, and solve complex problems. There are 4 types of questions in this section: two-part analysis, multi-source reasoning, graphic interpretation, and table analysis. Two-part analysis questions test to see if you can evaluate trade-offs, solve several equations simultaneously, and recognize relationships between entities from more complex problems. On multi-source reasoning questions, you will answer questions using data from tables, graphics, text, and other sources. Graphic interpretation questions present you with data in graphs and charts and you must make inferences and recognize relationships between them. Table analysis questions are like graphic interpretation questions, only you are presented with the data in the form of a table or spreadsheet. You are given 30 minutes to answer the 12 questions in this section.

How Can Raleigh-Durham GMAT Prep Help Me Prepare?

Whether you are interested in a prep course or a private tutor, we can connect you with experienced professionals that can help you prepare for the GMAT and reach for your score goals. GMAT prep covers all sections of the test.

If you prefer learning in a class-like setting, then a prep course could be right for you. Many people benefit from learning in a live, online class. Once you sign up to participate in a prep course, you will attend each session online along with other students enrolled in the course and a professional instructor. Collaborating and interacting with others can help you retain information better and can help you learn different techniques and approaches to preparing for each section. There are new classes starting each week, and you can choose from two-week or four-week courses. You can even get one-on-one help from your instructor if you need it.

If you prefer to learn in a private session with a tutor, our Educational Consultants can connect you with a qualified professional who fits your needs and goals. When you work with a private instructor, you can receive individualized attention that you may not get in a classroom setting. A private instructor can better understand your personality and areas of opportunity than an instructor that must focus on an entire class of students.
