Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"Today, we discussed alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, same side interior angles, corresponding angles, transversals, and parallel lines. He understood how to classify angles pretty well, but when it came to working with proofs, he began to struggle. Together, we worked on a proof problem. He understands the logic necessary to solve a proof problem, but he struggles to find the correct statements/reasons to back it up. We will continue practicing with proofs."
"Today's session was a review of property of various theorems in Geometry, midpoint, congruent angles and supplement angle. There was no major struggling, just a simple explanation of circle and angle of circle. I suggested the student draw a picture to represent the wording question. The student exhibited good understanding of the subjects, and he was able to demonstrate it on the homework and quiz."
"Today's session was great! We started the session off by reviewing her Chapter 2 notes, discussing conditional statements. We went over what makes a statement valid or invalid and how to tell if a counterexample could be found. Next, we completed an assignment that required the student to finish the proofs. We went over how to set the reasonings up as they follow a systematic format. We talked about the importance of vocabulary and how to integrate that into her proof column. She did a great job! Good luck on your quiz on Friday! Our goal is to get that next test grade up! "
"Today's topic was equations of lines. We went over perpendicular and parallel lines, and how their slopes compared. Then, we wrote the equations of lines given two points, given one point and the slope, given the x- and y-intercepts, and given a table of points. We also graphed lines from equations, and interpreted graphs to write the equations."
"Tonight we started by going over the student's class notes & vocab. We then reviewed her homework on missing angles. She definitely has a much better understanding than when we started, but could probably benefit from some additional practice on the topic."
"Tonight we went over triangle congruence including angle side angle, side angle side, and side side side. We covered CPCTC and started on circles. The student seems to be getting better at spotting patterns."
