Caitlin ...am dedicated to the experience of knowledge, including to and not limited to the English Language, reading, writing, and effective communication in any situation, mode, or medium. My goal as an educator is to bring knowledge-gaining experiences to students in such a way that necessary skills are transferred to multiple areas, thus promoting deeper cognitive ties. Lastly, my hope is for all students to love words and the power, responsibility, and gifts they bring.... I believe that teaching is a two-way street, meaning that while I have knowledge and experiences to share with students, they, too, have knowledge and experiences to share with me. Thus the 'two-way street' allows teachers and students to create a symbiotic relationship with one another that allows for Socratic conversations, self-made creations, and transference of skills. I also believe most students learn best when they are challenged, have room to be expressive, and lastly have the opportunities to demonstrate, apply, and stretch their learning.

If this wasn't the case, I couldn't really see any point in devoting my life to it. Outside of school and work, I try and get outdoors as much as possible. Eve ...a motivated and successful student and I am excited to share my skills and expertise with students. I believe in paying attention to a student's needs and tailoring tutoring to best meet these needs. In my spare time I enjoy reading, going to parks, traveling, trying new foods, and learning about different cultures. I am also involved in mental health advocacy and policy reform. I don't play any sports but I love watching hockey!... I believe that the role of a tutor is to guide a student to success. To me, this involves teaching the student good study habits and tips and tricks for success, then carefully reviewing material that the student finds challenging. It is also important that the student gain a sense of self-confidence through tutoring. This can be achieved by helping the student come to the correct answers to questions by guiding them, using what they know, to reach correct answers. Helping the student reach correct answers, instead of simply showing them the answers, helps them to prepare for tests and exams and engages them in the tutoring session.
Kristen ...it can be to have someone there to work through the material with you, at your own pace. I love working with kids, and I also have experience working with students ages 6-24. I know that there's serious pressure on students to excel and learn at home, and that can be overwhelming for parents. I am confident that I can help students improve academically by working patiently and diligently with them one-on-one. My strongest subjects...
