How can a tutor help your child master the HSPT?
The High School Placement Test, or HSPT, is an exam given to students in eighth grade who are aiming to get into an elite Catholic high school. The HSPT is used to determine admissions, place applicants, and decide scholarship recipients. If your child is aiming to attend an elite Catholic school or earn a scholarship, they will need to do well on this exam. The exam is given in two-and-a-half hours and consists of about 300 questions. It can be taken two times a year in the spring and fall. There are several versions in use. The main sections, which include language, math, quantitative skills reading, and verbal skills, are all multiple choice. The language portion has 60 questions and students are allowed 25 minutes to complete it. The math portion has 64 questions and allows 45 minutes for completion. The quantitative skills part has 52 questions and is allotted 30 minutes. The reading portion is 62 questions, and there are 25 minutes allotted for completion.
