How can a Statistics tutor help you?

Statistics is a mathematical science of learning from data. Important aspects covered in the subject are the collection and analysis of data, as well as the interpretation of that data. Are you struggling to keep up in your statistics class? Do you think you would benefit from receiving individualized assistance when studying for the course? Varsity Tutors can help you connect with a professional tutor. San Diego statistics tutoring may be a great option if you need help studying well for your course.

Statistics tutors in San Diego can help you work through the toughest areas of statistics with you. Is it hard for you to distinguish a sample from a population? Do you know how to determine the mistakes you've made in test samples? A personal tutor can go over the various samples, hypotheses, and intervals with you before your next statistics exam. If there is a particular area in your statistics course that you need to focus on the most, your tutor can arrange sessions around that specific topic. Your tutor can also teach you at your pace. If you aren't positive you can calculate a confidence interval for a population mean, then your private tutor can explain it to you in a meaningful way. They can observe the pace and how you absorb information and then adapt their teaching style to coincide with your learning style. Perhaps you learn best when your teacher uses visual elements to demonstrate a concept. Your personal tutor can provide online visual elements, such as videos or interactive programs, to help get across the concepts you are learning.

Expected value and fairness of games using probability. The student's latest project was to create a game using two dice and to determine its fairness using expected value. We started reviewing for his final by working on the review his professor had given him. We worked on mean, median, mode, standard deviation, z scores, t scores, and confidence intervals. He got through most of the problems with little trouble and we will review the rest of the material over the next week.

Statistics Tutoring review by Meredith in San Diego, CA
During today's session the student and I covered Section 4.1: Probability Distributions. We reviewed her teacher's notes, slide by slide. We distinguished discrete random variables from continuous random variables, constructed a discrete probability distribution and its graph, and determined if a distribution is a probability distribution. We also found the mean, variance, and standard deviation of a discrete probability distribution and found the expected value of a discrete probability distribution. We finished all homework problems related to this section.

Statistics Tutoring review by Shikhar in San Diego, CA
We covered all of chapters 1-4 to help the student prepare for her upcoming exam. This included practicing variance and standard deviation calculations (and what they meant, both theoretically and intuitively), different types of data (discrete v. continuous, numerical v. categorical, etc.) how to identify different distributions (normal, +/- skew), and some miscellaneous questions that she had.

Statistics Tutoring review by Justin in San Diego, CA
I helped the student with more preparation for his quiz next week. We went through a class worksheet and I had him go through it as if taking a quiz; I feel this got him more comfortable with working through and understanding statistics problems.
