How can Calculus tutoring help you succeed?

Calculus is a branch of math that has two parts. Differential calculus focuses on rate of change and integral calculus centers around accumulation. If you struggle with either of those types of calculus, Varsity Tutors can help you find a tutor that's ready to assist you in your studies. San Diego calculus tutoring may be a great option if you desire individualized help from a professional tutor.

Differential calculus is different from algebra in the way that calculus measures the slope of a curve and not just a line. To find out the slope of a curve, you must complete a formula that takes two points from the curve that are extremely close together, and then plug them into the equation. If differential calculus confuses you, or your class goes over the material too quickly, you can receive help at your pace from a private tutor. You can tell them the areas you need help with the most, and then they can plan sessions that can be focused specifically on those areas. Calculus tutors in San Diego, California, can create your lesson plans based on the material you choose to study.

Calculus Tutoring review by Michael in San Diego, CA
We continued our work on the exam 2 review, completing problems 6,7,8, and 10. Next, we finished working through some practice problems on logarithmic functions. The student has improved with these, but stumbles occasionally on the simplification at the end. We introduced the topic of increasing/decreasing intervals of functions.

The student and I reviewed for calculus test, and went over the types of problems and concepts. By the end of the session, she seemed to have a much better grasp of what had previously been confusing. We then discussed SAT prep, and I assigned practice sets for her to work in advance of our next session.

Calculus Tutoring review by Matthew in San Diego, CA
This was my first meeting with the student, so I spent some time talking about his last math class, and what he already knows, as well as what he needs help with. We jumped into solving some related rates problems, since he just had a quiz over that. Once he saw how a few problems are done, he started to get the hang of it. He definitely got more comfortable with being able to take derivatives.

Calculus Tutoring review by Evan in San Diego, CA
The problems and topics the student and I covered were preliminary exercises for limits. They dealt with assumptions of polynomials and guessing the instantaneous velocity based on collected data and analyzing the points around the desired region of the graph. We also analyzed a lot of graphs to see whether or not the limits existed based on left and right limit test. The only problem he had difficulty on involved two absolute equations. He is definitely understanding the information and I feel the tutoring is benefiting him substantially.
