I was born and raised in China, and received my bachelor's degree in the U.S. I hold a master's degree in TCSOL (Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages) from Jinan University in China. I speak standard Mandarin Chinese (Putonghua) and love to teach. When I work with students, I will understand their learning styles and adjust my teaching method to make the learning fun and effective. Mastering a foreign language enables us to open the door to a much wider world, however, it takes a lot of time and efforts. I will help you get there.

I am a country mouse from New England who moved to the big city for college. I studied English at St. John's University in Queens and then put that knowledge to work for my Master's degree in Library Science (also at St. John's). Since I cannot imagine life without being in school, I'm now working on a post-graduate certificate in Education.By day, I'm a school librarian at a large Catholic high school in Queens, where I work and team up with teachers to help students learn about research and academic writing. I also work with students one on one to encourage reading and a love of books. I work frequently to help struggling readers find books that will help them gain confidence and make reading a part of their lives.I love my job; I am passionate about reading and writing. The best part of being a librarian is helping a student find just the right book - a book that will help to spark a lifelong love of reading in them. I firmly believe that the way to get better at reading is to read something you love, and good writers are avid readers too. I spend a lot of my day job coaching students through research-based papers, but it's always a great experience to work with other types of writing, from polishing a knock-your-socks-off college essay to work-shopping creative writing.Over the years, I've tutored at the high school, middle school, and college levels. I've worked with just about every subject, but my specialty really is in Reading and Writing. I love helping students with subjects I know they'll be using in every aspect of their lives. I remember in high school when writing a strong essay finally clicked for me - it was the best feeling in the world. Now, I get that same satisfaction from helping other people find a way to make writing click for them.I love New York and cannot imagine living anywhere else. I love to spend my free time in museums, shows, and just soaking up all of this fantastic city. The best part of New York? I received my PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Minnesota. My dissertation work was in optics, specifically optical imaging systems. I primarily tutor Optics, Electromagnetism, Analog Circuits, and Digital Electronics. My teaching style tends to be Socratic; I like to use guiding questions to help students grow their comprehension and problem solving skills.

Ever since I was little, I wanted to teach. I love teaching and sharing my passions with others. I have taught for about seven years, and it has been a pleasure to share my love for literature with my students. I love making my classroom interactive by using the flipped model and implementing group work. I have also worked one-on-one with students while they were in stations.Additionally, I received my Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Florida.I can teach English Language Arts 6-12 and ESOL because I have a teaching certificate for those subjects. I can also teach College English, Writing, and Syntax and Grammar because of my Bachelor of Arts degree in English literature.Out of all the aforementioned subjects, my favorite would be College English because I love working with adults while teaching what I am passionate about. My first experience as a teacher was working with adults. They were attentive and they loved participating.My teaching philosophy is that learning is a process that we must take one step at a time to learn the content, take notes, and study enough to make sure we learn the content. I have a my own library in my home office.I am also passionate about powerlifting (bench, deadlift, and squats), so I go to the gym often. I competed once, but I don't know if I want to compete again because I was extremely nervous in the meet.

I can help an elementary student with whatever subject they might need, and a middle school or high school student with literature or writing.

During my time at FIU, I was employed as a preceptor by the History Department which provided me with the opportunity to teach students proper research and writing skills. I found that many students had been poorly equipped in high school to deal with the rigors of college-level work, and I made it a point to teach my students the skills they would need to be successful.History and writing go hand-in-hand, and I consider myself an excellent tutor for American and European history, effective essay writing skills, and proper research and study skills. My tutoring gives high school students the skills they will need to succeed in college and college students the skills they will need to graduate. I tutor using a technique-based approach, which can apply to a wide variety of subjects and is not limited to history or writing.As someone with a love for antiquity, I enjoy studying and teaching classical Japanese martial arts and have done so for fifteen years. Whenever possible, I attend living history events throughout the state of Florida. I also consider myself a bit of an automobile enthusiast and enjoy the feel of a well-made sports car.

I am a spring 2022 student at the University of Florida Innovation Academy and plan to major in Computer Science/Business. I am taking online classes fall 2021 with UF but my schedule is very flexible. I love music production, archery, video games and making music and hanging out with my friends. I love helping students out by tutoring them in whatever they need help with, and I get this great feeling when I see that a student is getting better.

In 2008, I graduated from Brigham Young University - Idaho with a Bachelors degree in Accounting. Since graduation, I have worked for CPA firms throughout the California Bay Area, and the greater Vancouver, Washington area.

Throughout my years of working with children, both in and out of the classroom, I have learned many things. However, two main things have stood out more than anything else. The first thing would be that flexibility is the key to success. The second thing would be that if at first you don't succeed, try again using a different method. There are nine different learning styles for a reason, and I pride myself on trying my best to recognize that in every student so that I may help them achieve their highest level of potential.
