Receive personally tailored History lessons from exceptional tutors in a one-on-one setting. We help you connect with in-home and online tutoring that offers flexible scheduling and your choice of locations.

How can a History tutor help you?

History may be a rich and exciting field of study, but not everyone takes to it immediately. For some, it begins as colorless array of dates, names, and events. Others find they enjoy the field, but need extra help to keep everything they learn about in order. Whether you're struggling to find motivation or just need an experienced study partner, the best preparation for your history course is an expert tutor in Phoenix who may create a study plan just for you.

The right tutor may walk you through the rise and fall of civilizations, helping you to distinguish the Parthians from the Scythians or the Hans from the Huns. Instead of seeing history as a series of isolated events, you'll explore the cause and effect relationships between conflicts, invasions, and revolutions. Your tutor may also work with you to memorize chronologies before upcoming exams or presentations. Whatever your needs might be, your personal instructor may work with you to design study sessions that achieve your goals.

History Tutoring review by Aaron in Phoenix, AZ
With an upcoming history test Monday, the student and I went through her history review. She's currently working through the Reconstruction Period, post-Civil War. Several topics that we went over: poll tax, Virginia's economy, Black Codes, the importance of railroads, immigrants, the 13th Amendment, and more. We went through certain mnemonics that she can try, using the process of elimination on multiple choice, and going back to the book to look for answers. We also covered some science - the water cycle.

Today, we concentrated on the student's US History review packet because he has a test on Friday. I read the various documents and summaries with him. Then, we completed the questions together. He has a great memory and can easily understand the content when I go over it with him. In addition to helping him do his packet, I also gave him some study strategies.

We reviewed time with a movable clock. We also practiced the ordinal numbers, subject pronouns and adjectives to describe classes. We read a dialogue about 2 students talking about their classes. I haven't seen any grades yet. The student had a test today. I left him with some practice telling time.

The student has a history test upcoming, so he wanted to review the chapters for that, with a special focus on liberal and conservative actions. The test covered post-World War I America, isolationism, the '20s, and the depression leading into the New Deal. I specifically encouraged him to focus less on memorizing details and more on understanding how the historical concepts fit together. He told me his tests are all multiple choice.

History Tutoring review by Lindsey in Phoenix, AZ
Today I met with the student for one hour. We discussed his progress in his U.S. history and government classes. His mother requested I focus on helping him build an overarching narrative of U.S. history and government to be able to better contextualize what is going on in these classes even though he is making good grades. We discussed how framing politics as an adversarial relationship between two different ideas creates a dominant two-party system.

History Tutoring review by Austin in Phoenix, AZ
We spent this session working on chapter 30 of his book and making flash cards to aid in his studies. We covered the Vietnam war in its entirety, including key figures, locations, and events. The student already seemed familiar with some of the terms (common to wars) which was great. We finished the session by briefly talking about the satire project he had to complete.
