How can a History tutor help you?

History is such a fascinating subject because it is literally the story of us. Being well versed in history allows us to see why our society and culture is the way it is, and it gives us a greater appreciation for the past of every group of people. Some students struggle with memorizing dates and famous figures, and this may sometimes turn students off to the subject entirely. This is too bad, especially because of how absorbing history may be. Sometimes teachers may fail to inspire their students into realizing this, and students may become distracted by their classmates that prevent them from learning the material. Having a personal tutor may keep your child focused on learning, and they may also help them learn to appreciate history for the wonderful subject it is. Varsity Tutors may connect you with a personal history tutor in Madison, WI, who may be able to cater sessions to your child's preferences in a way that they won't get in a traditional classroom setting.

Your child's tutor is passionate about history, and wants them to be passionate about it as well. Having an appreciation for the subject may help your child work to stay engaged and focused, and may allow them to get a higher quality learning experience. The tutor may instruct them at a pace that meshes well with your child's learning style, and may streamline their education by focusing on topics that they find challenging. Your child might build the confidence that they need to excel in their course, and gain an academic advantage over their classmates. An expert history tutor in Madison may also work to help your child meet all of their studying goals.

History Tutoring review by Toure in Madison, WI
We reviewed the US History timeline today, and discussed major themes/topics. We then used our resources to review major historical events from 1945 to 1980. Some of the major themes we covered were post WWII America, The Cold War, major accomplishments of presidential administrations, Red Scare, Cuban Missile Crisis, and desegregation. We focused on the text based multiple choice questions as well.

History Tutoring review by Rihana in Madison, WI
We did a review of the material that the student will be tested on tomorrow, and I also got more of a sense of what her needs are, where her teacher is leaving some gaps, and what I can do to fill in some of those gaps. When we meet the next time, we will discuss more specifics on how I can be of the most use to her, and I will introduce her to some good resources to supplement her studying. The basic problem is that she is not getting the comprehensive version of AP History that she needs, including the major skill set of drawing connections between different time periods and events. I pulled up the website that she is using to supplement her class, and it is an extremely basic overview. Our focus will be on filling in more details, making the separate pieces that her teacher gives her fit together into a cohesive whole, and making connections that will be asked of her on the AP exam.
