Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student and I went through another practice exam. We focused on problems involving Hooke's law and springs, so we went through the textbook examples and did a couple practice problems involving those. She seems to understand most of the concepts very well!"
"Today we continued working on prior lessons/concepts learned in preparation for the student's math final. We worked on percents, decimals, multiplying and dividing fractions and mixed numbers, as well as plane coordinates and graphing. He still prefers to do most of his math mentally, which is concerning due to his tendency to make minor errors in his mental calculations. We also went over a prior test he received back. Overall I feel confident that he knows each concept and if he takes his time and writes out his calculations, he will score well on his final. It was a pleasure working him and his family."
"The student and I reviewed the slides for Lesson 2.11, which covers the real world application of logarithmic functions. This lesson included the formulas for calculating the magnitude of an earthquake, relative intensity of sound, growth rate (using e), and pH. He completed the five question quiz for 2.11. We started to go over the slides for the Unit Review in preparation for the Unit Test. He will finish going over the review slides this weekend, and he would like to take the Unit Test on Monday during our next session."
"The student had with him a packet he has been working on in class this past week while his teacher is absent. The primary focus of the packet is slope fields and other topics about differential equations. The primary topic covered was how to solve differential equations with two variables and use an initial condition to solve for a particular solution. By the end of the session he appeared to be extremely confident with the practiced technique."
"Todays session with the student went well. We covered chapter five in his algebra book which puts him almost a chapter ahead of his class, they are on chapter 5.1. This chapter covered; graphing, imaginary numbers, and radicals. He is going to take the chapter five test in the book to see if he understands all of it. If he does well we will be moving on to working more on chapter six."
"We covered a variety of topics in statistics to prepare her for her final exam. Since it was for a final, a wide variety of material was covered - all from review sheets that she had obtained."
