Today he and I started by reviewing multiplication and division flash cards. He only missed a couple (81/9 and 56/8). Then we worked on converting simple fractions to decimals. This is an abstract concept but essential in understanding decimals. I based the lesson on converting 1/4 to 0.25 by correlating the conversion using 1/4 of a dollar = a quarter which is 25 cents. Then we spent most of the second half reading chapter 2 of "James and the Giant Peach," finishing with some more decimal work.

I reviewed recent vocabulary with the student: alternate interior angles, alternate exterior angles, consecutive interior angles and corresponding angles. The student was able to identify the pairs. I reviewed his square numbers and he did well remembering them. We played a card game involving addition and multiplication and he did fine.

We reviewed multiplication and division up to dividing by 5. Then we moved on to dividing by 6, 7, 8, 9, and 10. The student immediately excelled at dividing by 9 and 10. Ultimately she was able to solve them all.
