Holding both a Bachelors in History from Connecticut College, and a Masters in Teaching History from University of Illinois Chicago, I have a wide breadth of content knowledge available to help students. Two years of teaching at Evanston Township High School has given me excellent experience working with students and helping them through challenges. I especially enjoy tutoring students in US History, World History, and Civics/Political Science. Mastering basic writing skills make for a clear, thoughtful, and effective communicator, which are crucial components of a student's success. I am a journalist who produces copy covering various topics for print and digital media, and I love interacting with students. I believe positive interactions promote self-confidence and a heightened self-esteem. Tutoring is an opportunity to be a role model, and even in a short session, quality interactions leave a lasting impact. I have a variety of interests: I love to exercise, read, spend time with family and friends, and travel both domestically and internationally. I look forward to sharing my knowledge and getting to know your student!

My first college degree came from the University of Michigan. I graduated with a bachelor of arts in communications, specializing in journalism and screen studies (film and tv!). I worked as a film publicist in NYC for four years before deciding to go back to school to fulfill my first passion - working in the medical field. In January of 2019, I graduated from NYU with my accelerated second bachelors degree in nursing and successfully passed the NCLEX on my first attempt in April 2019. I currently work as a registered nurse at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in downtown Chicago. With my background, I really enjoy tutoring pre-nursing and nursing students as they navigate their way through this amazing industry. I work with a variety of student whether it's students fresh out of high school or, like myself, students that decided they wanted to go back and pursue another degree.I personally believe that every student must be treated as the individual they are. Everyone learns differently and it is up to me and the student I work with to figure out what works best for them when it comes to expanding upon and enhancing their learning.I look forward to working with each and every one of you!

Adult ESL/ELL Tutor • +24 Subjects

Having completed my Bachelor of Science degree, with a major in forestry and a Master of Science degree in forestry at Mari State Technical University, I went on to settle down as a stay-at-home mom homeschooling my children. My love of learning pushed me to attain CNA certification, as well as that of a phlebotomist and an EMT. However, nothing was ever as rewarding as when I finally found myself in teaching. Searching for ways to reach every individual child, to help him understand and love the subject presented to him, I learned more than I ever had. In my fifteen years, first at a Russian school, then also at a private academy, and finally, as an academic advisor, I discovered that children all have different ways of learning, and it is extremely vital to personalize the approach. Tailoring the subjects of English, mathematics, Russian, and others to the individual - then seeing the child flourish and light up with the desire to discover and to learn; I learn so much from my students, and more than anything aspire to grow in them a love for learning.
