The score earned on the GRE can play a pivotal role in your application to graduate schools such as Arizona State University. With the help of a Tucson GRE class, you are heading into test day with an advantage over competing applicants. There are three sections that make up the GRE, each of which will require you to demonstrate a different set of skills to be successful. This exam is your opportunity to impress admissions boards who are tasked with making final admissions decisions.
What will be covered during the Tucson GRE course?
The three sections that make up the GRE are Analytical Writing, Verbal Reasoning, and Quantitative Reasoning. There are a variety of question types, from multiple choice to written responses. For all three sections combined, you have a maximum of 3 hours and 45 minutes to finish. A Tuscon GRE course can zero in on enhancing the skills required to understand what you may need to know to earn a high score on the exam. For your benefit, we will now look deeper into the structure of the exam by going through each section to examine the types of questions you will be asked.
The Analytical Writing section presents you with two tasks that you must address in no more than 60 minutes. For your first task, you will need to analyze an issue. The second task will ask you to analyze an argument. You are given 30 minutes to complete each task. For both tasks, your analysis will be in the form of a written response. Your score on this section will be based on your basic writing skills as well as your ability to support your analysis with relevant examples. This part of the exam is scored on a scale of 0-6.
The Verbal Reasoning portion is divided into 2 sections, each containing 20 questions. You have a total of 60 minutes to complete the Verbal Reasoning section. This section includes three types of questions: reading comprehension, text completion, and sentence equivalence. For the reading comprehension questions, you will have to read passages that vary in length from one to several paragraphs. There are roughly 10 passages you will have to read in this section. Each passage is followed by 1-6 questions that will test your ability to evaluate the written material. The text completion questions will ask you to fill in the blanks within short passages. You are given 3-5 options for each blank portion. The sentence equivalence questions will give you the opening of a sentence. You will then have to use your analytical skills to determine the best choice out of 6 for how the sentence should finish. The scoring range for this section is 130-170.
The Quantitative Reasoning section will test your math skills over 2 sections consisting of 20 questions each. You will be given 1 hour and 10 minutes to finish this section. You will have to demonstrate your knowledge of subjects such as algebra and geometry. The types of questions you will have to answer include numeric entry and quantitative comparison.
