Rick is a veteran journalist and teacher. He has been teaching SAT preparation since 2003, and is currently teaching English at high school in Massachusetts. He is licensed in Massachusetts to teach English and History at the middle- and high-school levels. Rick's chief teaching strengths are in writing mechanics and reading comprehension. I am a trained historian, with special expertise in Southern History, African American History, and broader narratives of American History. I also have training in American Literature and English composition. My primary tutoring experience lies in high school history and English. My goal is to help your student engage more deeply with their reading and writing assignments so that their grades improve in the short and long term.

I got my undergraduate degree at the University of Colorado in Economics and a Minor in Political Science. Then I spent a year in China studying Mandarin and working with a faith-based organization. After returning to the USA, I worked a couple of years as a personal and business banker. Then I got a four year Master of Divinity at Denver Seminary.
