Science Tutoring review by Arvind in Everett, WA
After a review of solution and acid/base chemistry, the student and I tackled the most difficult portion of her test -- redox chemistry. She struggled at first because are a lot of terms and counterintuitive concepts in redox chemistry, but I showed her that it all boils down to electron transfers. Charge and atom numbers are still balanced, but now electrons were moving between different atoms. She is practicing the problems in her book.

Science Tutoring review by Daryl in Everett, WA
Yesterday we covered thermodynamics. Specifically Hess's law, calorimetry, as well as some review of her last test. I saw her previous test, and I believe with a little work we can improve how she performs. The student mostly struggled with the Hess's law problem, and partially with calorimetry. I left her with no extra practice, she has a quiz to study for on Thursday. I have no concerns from this session.

Science Tutoring review by Sundeep in Everett, WA
The student and I met at a coffee shop today to go over her current chemistry material. The current material covered in Percent Yield equations, so I helped her understand how to find theoretical yield and find percent yield after that. She had a little trouble understanding how to find actual yield when given percent yield, but after a couple of examples she was easily able to get the correct answer. We had some time left after I helped her with the current material so I showed her how to do the material they would be covering next, limiting reagent problems. I showed her how to find the limiting reagent and how to find remaining excess after a reaction goes to completion. She seemed to get it fairly well but will need to practice it a little more to ensure she knows it well. I don't have any concerns with the student's progress and think she will do well on her exam. I did not leave her with any extra practice.
