Tutoring review by Jennifer in DuPont, WA
We covered dimensional analysis in chemistry. Specifically, we looked at volumetric changes between liters and cubic meters, as these had been giving the student some trouble. We also covered the basics of dealing with logarithms, as well as graphing inverses involving logarithms. He seemed quite confident after the lesson, and I instructed him to continue with his worksheet for extra practice.

Tutoring review by James in DuPont, WA
This is the student's 2nd Algebra 2 tutoring session. It was very successful. We practiced about 20 problems involving logarithm properties, simplifying logarithms, solving exponential equations, and solving logarithmic equations. Many of the logarithmic equations were quite challenging, some involving a "y" substitution for an algebraic expression, and others involving the change of base formula. Each problem was different from the previous, so getting momentum was challenging. But all of the problems continued to reinforce the same basic logarithmic properties and rules, so by the end of the session, the student was able to look at a tough equation and immediately recognize the first few steps required to simplify the equation to solve it. The student was able to demonstrate, with ease, his ability to perform fast mental calculations. He is meticulous and continues to take pride in his work.

The student did a few problems that he was assigned. I will be emailing his mom with his assignment to see if he will complete more of it. We worked with coordinate planes - basically naming the quadrants and placing points on the graph.

Tutoring review by Efrem in DuPont, WA
We dealt with the PowerPoint presentations by the instructor on production, competitive and monopolistic markets, competitive advantage, production, and costs. We were trying to prepare the student for the test scheduled for this evening and fix the concepts in her mind. She is diligent and appears ready, especially to illustrate these concepts in the health industry. She has text material to review as well. We discussed existing examples of markets and behavior of the companies as well. We agreed that we would meet again to prepare for the midterm in the course.

Tutoring review by Lindsay in DuPont, WA
In this tutoring session, the student and I first starting talked about her experiences in school for the first few days. This was especially relevant to our work together because it helped to give us a better picture of her expectations for when she is abroad, starting at the end of the month. Once we finished talking about the beginning of school, we moved on to look at some diagnostic math homework that was assigned. This covered a wide range of material from geometrics to ratio word problems. She moved through the packet and we discussed strategies that could be used. After working on math, we worked briefly on the chemistry of ionic compound naming.
