Today we went over transformations of different coordinates and shapes. By the time we were finished the student had a solid understanding of the material. At the point where I left her, she still needed to practice a bit more to master the material, however, conceptually she was very sound. Great effort and work!

Today the student and I focused on her homework that is due tomorrow. We did a mini lesson on unit rates and their relation to fractions. I think that relating symbols to words in the word problems really helped, as well as being able to see examples. I expect her to be comfortable with this unit after she makes up her other homework.

Today we reviewed the topics to be covered on tomorrow's test. The test is over surface area and volume of solids. I have emailed a mock test to the student so that he can get some practice with the similar problems tonight.

Tutoring review by Christine in Yelm, WA
We went over her third assignment, which she had trouble starting on her own. I went over how to approach each problem: draw a picture, write out variables, write out equations, and then solve. She seemed to have a good understanding of projectile motion - the concepts of constant velocity in the x direction and what the variables mean. We spent a lot of time on vectors. She knew how to add vectors by breaking them into components, but we will spend more time next time on the concepts. I gave her ideas for types of problems to try on her own.

Tutoring review by Krista in Yelm, WA
The student and I met to go over his chemistry work. He is currently learning acid base equilibrium, calculating pH, and concentrations of different ion species. This is a very difficult chapter and we met to go over some review problems. He seems to be gaining confidence with these problems. I snuck in a few 'review' type problems asking him to calculate molarity and molality and he struggled with this. I think that more repetition and practice will be beneficial. His next test is in one week.
