What does an Oklahoma City GMAT course cover?
The GMAT is a 4-section exam that takes just over three hours to complete with two optional 8-minute breaks. The four sections are the Quantitative Reasoning section, the Verbal Reasoning section, the Integrated Reasoning section, and the Analytical Writing Assessment. Each section has a different time limit and evaluates your ability to use critical thinking in a different manner. Let's take a closer look at each section and which skills your GMAT review should cover to help you feel prepared for test day.
The Quantitative Reasoning is 31 questions long with a 62-minute time limit. This part of the GMAT requires you to make use of common geometry, algebra, and arithmetic skills in conjunction with analytical reasoning skills to solve problems of a quantitative nature. You'll want to work on your ability to assess whether you have the right type and amount of data to solve a problem for this section. You will not have access to a calculator but rest assured, the difficulty of this section doesn't come from the necessary math skills, but from your necessity to think critically.
The Verbal Reasoning portion of the exam is comprised of 36 multiple-choice choices which you must finish within 65 minutes. Reading comprehension, sentence correction, and critical thinking skills are being evaluated in this section. You'll have half an hour to showcase your capacity to understand a given passage in order to determine the main ideas and draw conclusions. Working on grammar and sentence structure are important skills for the Verbal section of the GMAT.
The next section is measuring your Integrated Reasoning skills with 12 questions. You'll be tested on your ability to look at various sets of data in charts, graphs, scatter plots, and other graphical sources in order to recognize relevant information and determine a relationship or disparity exists. These questions are complex in nature so practicing them in a GMAT review class can help you be ready for them on the day of the test.
The final section is the Analytical Writing Assessment, which has a 30-minute time limit. In this part of the exam, you'll be evaluated on your ability to organize and express your ideas with adequate support and evidence. You will not need to be an expert in the subject matter of the argument provided in this section. You are only being asked to examine the given argument and determine the validity of the evidence. Working in a GMAT prep course can help you work on your writing skills with expert guidance and peer-editing opportunities.
No matter what skills you'd like to work on, we can set you up in a GMAT class to address it.

I graduated from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC in 2008, the oldest English speaking acting conservatory in the world. I graduated Summa from University of St Thomas with a BA in English, and just wrapped up a MS in Data Science from Northwestern. I'm a huge Red Sox fan and love watching detective shows when I have free time.... Positivity. Always. I believe that if a student is given positive tools and is allowed to understand the material rather than be lectured at, they're more likely to do well in the future.
