Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"We covered the material for the student's US history and civics test. I was very pleased with his progress and hopefully if he goes through it a bit more he'll be able to do very well on his test. I'm happy that he did well on his last quiz and look forward to his continued success."
"We did a review of various basic concepts, regarding visualization of data from a statistical experiment, including the use of box-plots to visualize data quartiles (with and without outlier detection), and histograms and construction of probability distribution functions using given data. The process of standardization of probability distribution functions (PDF), looking up values in a standard normal distribution table to compute probabilities as areas under the standard normal PDF, was also reviewed. Each discussed example was associated with visualizations in both Matlab and R, to reinforce the reviewed concepts."
"We discussed the p - value, z test, t test, t table, z table, alpha, and confidence intervals. He is very motivated to learn. We have gone over some of the slides in the PowerPoints and have done some of the example problems as well. He has grasped the concept of the z test and t test."
"We divided a normal distribution into probability regions by deviation. We answered questions about normally distributed data sets and defined statistic, summary statistic, and parameter. We conceptualized the standard normal as a translation of a normal distribution."
"We focused on the normal distribution and its properties, particularly as regards probabilities and percentiles. The student is a quick study. We did have some issues with the answer key to her problem set but we'll circle back with the instructor on that."
"We had a introductory lesson about what the student will need as we move forward heading to her next exam on Friday. She is forwarding me all of her notes so that we can make a study plan for Thursday."
