I am a graduate of the University of South Carolina and I received my Bachelor of Arts in Humanities with a focus on French. When I began studying French in High School, I had a desire to speak French as fluently as natives so I created my own methods for learning vocabulary and perfecting the accent. I worked with these methods diligently and they were so effective that in college I won the Prix D'Honneur in the category of "Spoken French." Today, many years out of college, most of the French people that meet me either think that I am a French native or that I was born in a French-speaking country which brings me so much joy! It is this love of the language and these methods that I hope to impart to you during our French Conversation, French Level 1 and French Level 2 sessions. I spent my junior year studying at L'Universite Paul Valery in Montpellier, France and have returned to France many times after graduation. Since then, I have lived in London and New York City, where I tutored adults and taught children French. For years I have been absolutely enamored with French culture and have participated in New York's Bastille Day events, worked with the Avignon-New York Film Festival, and gone on hunts for the-most-French-tasting-croissants-in-New York. A few facts about me: I speak beginner level Italian, I moved to New York City to perform in musical theater as a tap dancer and, I had a small speaking part in a French film with Gerard Depardieu, although I was not in a scene with him!

I have been teaching for 25 years in NYC Public Schools. I have also taught Spanish as a Dual Language Teacher. I love being a teacher because I also learn from my students how to be a better teacher and engage them. I am passionate about teaching students to read, because once you can read you can learn anything. I always tell students one of my favorite quotes: "Everything is hard when you don't know how to do it and easy once you learn how."

I am a Lead Family Services Specialist (Employment Services) with Chesterfield-Colonial Heights Social Services since 2006, and also a 5th grade teacher at Richmond Japanese weekend school since 2009. I have a degree in Economics from Tulane University, a Masters in International Business from FIU and a Masters in International Relations from U of Miami. I am passionate about teaching Macroeconomics. It was my favorite subject in school and I love everything about the subject. I believe Economics is an essential subject for students to study and understand, and I am eager to help students to love Economics as much as I do.In addition to Economics, I also tutor Spanish. I grew up in South America, so I learned Spanish by immersion. My early days of teaching were devoted to Spanish. I taught elementary, Middle School, and High School Spanish.

Before that I was teaching ESL abroad. I taught in several different countries including Japan, Korea, and Argentina. I had the opportunity to teach all age groups: from two year olds to people in their seventies! I love to make content fun and memorable by using visuals, games, songs, physical activity, or any other device that will help students make cognitive connections to content material. I believe that all students learn the material differently, and that all students can be successful given the appropriate instruction.I graduated with honors from the University of Minnesota in 2006 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Spanish minor. Although I earned a liberal arts degree, I also followed a pre-med path and studied Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Biochemistry, and Genetics. During my time at University, I did a study abroad in Merida, Venezuela. While living abroad I completed the Cambridge University CELTA, the Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults.

I graduated with my Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Studies from California State University. Then, I continued my education to receive my Master's in Special Education from Grand Canyon University. Since graduation, I have been in the Special Education field as a Resource Teacher, teaching students from K-8. I primarily teach 4th and lower grade Math. I am a strong believer in all students deserve to get the education they need and deserve, no matter what level they are at.
