The student and I covered reading comprehension. We discussed chapter 2 of the novel, The Outsiders, his assigned reading. I helped him understand the terms theme, tone, and characterization in the context of understanding and interpreting literary works. I also assisted him with identifying the primary theme in The Outsiders. We also discussed plans for reviewing the pre-algebra concepts and rules regarding the order of operations, integers, and number lines. He was engaged and attentive during the session, and displayed a positive attitude toward the material reviewed.
