This allows the teaching process to step further and further. The material taught must also be very measured so the student understands all the steps taken by the educator. It is my understanding that following these guidelines, constant monitoring of feedback and measuring teaching materials are the keys for successful...

Often, our instructors will not give us the opportunity or proper context to become motivated to get involved in our education. I seek to aid others in their understanding and development by contextualizing what they are learning and thus providing the an answer to the "why," and not just the "how," that can really aid in internalizing difficult topics.

Ramapo Applied Mathematics Tutoring FAQ
When learning applied mathematics, it can be nearly impossible to find adequate help. As the field is so expansive in its implications, and because coursework can vary widely, identifying someone with the knowledge and experience to answer specific questions you may have can be like searching for a needle in a haystack. Are you stumped by a problem you are facing in your applied mathematics research, project, or class? Are you wondering where you can get personalized help devoted to addressing your specific concerns with the subject? Varsity Tutors can help you to connect with such assistance in the form of applied mathematics tutoring.
Whether you are taking your first applied mathematics course or researching the ways in which math can inform other branches of learning, an applied mathematics instructor can provide you with the assistance and feedback you need to grasp those concepts that elude you. These may relate to science, business, engineering, technology, or computer science subjects. Applied mathematics tutoring is provided by talented instructors who are knowledgeable in the subject matter, as well as vetted in an intensive interview process for their superb communication skills. They not only know applied mathematics - they can explain it in ways that make sense.
With the help of the Varsity Tutor educational directors, you can find an instructor who uses applied math in a variety of subjects. If you are taking a robotics course, the director can put you in touch with a tutor that knows everything about robotics. There are many instructors who have unique teaching styles, personalities, and subject knowledge. Some may be more knowledgeable about applied math in relation to science, while others may be more experienced in applying math to engineering projects. You can work alongside the director to identify the tutors that are most suited to working with you.
Tutoring sessions are entirely one-on-one and designed around your specific curriculum, project, and concerns. You do not need to spend time reviewing mathematical concepts that you already understand, so your tutoring can be as efficient as possible. Many tutors work in fields where their knowledge of applied mathematics is tested daily. They are eager to help you meet your current challenges in research or class work, but they can also help you to gain the skills that they know from experience and that you will likely need later in your career. Real-world knowledge is invaluable, and it is certainly not something a textbook can provide you with. With a professional applied mathematics tutor, you have access to the most valuable source there is: a professional that applies math on a daily basis.
Tutoring also proceeds according to your particular schedule. No matter how many other commitments you are currently balancing, your tutor can work to make tutoring a part of your academic life. Whether you want your tutor to hold sessions in a library, a coffee shop, your dorm or house, or even face-to-face online, he or she can do so, at whatever time best works for you. Are you in class until 7 pm, or are you only available before 9 am? Your tutor will work around your commitments to make tutoring as convenient as possible. In addition, you are free to request more or fewer tutoring sessions as you go. If you have a test on a specific topic approaching, your tutor can alter the lesson plan to focus specifically on those subjects.
If you are ready to start improving your knowledge of topics like fluid dynamics, modeling, and optimization with the help of an experienced instructor, call Varsity Tutors today! The student and I worked on developing her skill with parametric functions and using her graphing calculator with the functions. We also worked on developing her skills with writing parametric equations for word problems.
We reviewed: lateral areas, surface areas and volumes of prisms, pyramids, cubes and other three dimensional shapes. She completed the problems, and I checked her work for accuracy.
We reviewed some pre-algebra concepts and completed several worksheets. The student understands how to evaluate variable expressions and can complete graphing problems. We will continue to work on more pre-algebra concepts.
The student will be taking his final exams in math soon, so our hour was spent reviewing his homework. We covered area/circumference of circles, areas of irregular polygons, and volume of rectangular prisms. I also pulled up the standards for his grade level, and we did word problems that tested rates of change and probability.
This sessions occurred on Tues. 5/7. We worked on solving inequalities involving one variable. The student seemed to get the graphing, and we practiced flipping the sign when multiplying/dividing by a negative number.
During this session, the student completed his in-class assignment that he had not finished. It revolved around shopping, applying and calculating discounts and taxes. He did very well with the activity and seemed encouraged by his understanding.
