Recent Tutoring Session Reviews
"The student's picking everything up very quickly. We got into sample distributions, confidence intervals, and the very beginnings of hypothesis testing. But I also had to briefly review how z-score tables work, introduce t-scores, show how t-score tables work, talk about the central limit theorem, introduce degrees of freedom, and then we still had time to do a bunch of practice problems. Next session we'll get more into hypothesis testing, null hypotheses, things like that."
"The student has another homework assignment due for her stats class on Thursday. We spent time today reviewing the material covered on that assignment. In particular, we focused on properties of the normal distribution, z-scores, and using z-tables."
"The student has a midterm coming up on Tuesday, so we reviewed everything he has learned up until this point, including odds ratios, CI, mean vs median, IQR, outliers and conditional probability."
"We did the homework together and then reviewed for state assessment. The student struggled with multi-step word problems. I left extra practice with her."
"Covered area, the Constitution, FCAT reading practice, and force. Student is receiving Cs in math, social studies, and science right now. Student struggled the most with memorization of concepts in science and social studies."
"Today I reviewed addition with the student . I also introduced multiplication and division to him as he had not been taught this before. He caught on pretty fast to multiplication and division."
"Gave an introduction to decimals and learned the six times tables. The student is progressing quite well and seems to be retaining what he has learned in past lessons."
"Reviewed equations of parabola and circles. Focus, directrix, and vertex. The student did very well when she could refer to the formula."
"The student and I focused on her completing her daily homework assignment involving line graphs and test review. She knew most of the concepts and demonstrated good comprehension of any errors that she made."
"We covered graphing of circles with different shifts in a function and determining the factors for the conical equations."
"Covered general Math - addition tables, some subtraction, and multiplication tables. Worked with LEGOS to cover some basic concepts of addition."
"The session began with me assessing the student in math with a performance task that included several open ended math word problems. Once finished, he took a spelling test to assess any areas of improvement that may need to be addressed. Afterwards, he read several passages and practiced retelling the main idea and answering comprehension questions."
