The student is on to the wonderful world of genetics. We've looked into mitosis and its 5 phases prior to cytokinesis and what could go wrong at each step of mitosis. She will begin meiosis soon and I've stressed the importance of the similarities between meiosis and mitosis.

Tutoring review by Helen Joan in Reading, PA
I met the student at his home to practice for the 4th grade exams. He wrote a short response to an earlier reading, "Rotten Island," then we discussed the specific details of that response. He also read a passage about doing laundry and answered 12 "detail" questions from his test prep book, which we graded together, but have not yet reviewed. For homework, he is writing a short essay about Alcatraz Island which he will use to design his own multiple choice test.

Tutoring review by Asya in Reading, PA
She is taking her second go at the SAT on Saturday and is most nervous about the multiple choice portion of the Writing Section. We went over strategies and common sentence errors to look for and practiced these. She was doing very well, and I believe more practice will help her see the common patterns used in these portions.

Tutoring review by Marline in Reading, PA
I helped him with his lab. We went through all of what he already completed. We went through each section together and filled in the information. I was able to help him with the basics but he had to complete the research part. We then worked on his biology hw. It just involved him reading and answering questions. What was not in the book we just googled online. We worked on that in our last session and he did not work on it since. I believe that he needs to do more work on his own outside of class and our sessions.
