In today's session we concentrated on math.
We reviewed equations for volume and surface area of prisms, pyramids, cones, and cylinders. We discussed relevant vocabulary and formulas and did a sheet of practice problems.
We also spent time reviewing the quadratic equation in preparation for an upcoming test. We discussed how to put the equation in its appropriate format to use it. We also reviewed how to factor polynomials and when it is appropriate to factor or use the quadratic equation.

We played math fact fluency games and activities to help develop the student's overall math sense. We also reviewed factoring and listing out multiples and how those activities apply to working with fractions. He is doing some extra practice homework for me to facilitate his retention of these concepts.

This past session we went over the student's homework packet, which included a lot of short vowel sound practice. She had a quiz on short vowels the following day, so I brought up some examples of those kinds of words for her to make sense of, and I gave her some strategies on how to differentiate short E's and short I's. There was also quite a bit of addition in the packet, which she has no issue at all with, so those problems were finished easily.

Today we worked on the review of the ratio and proportions unit. We completed the review and worked on the MAP exam booklet, and then we solved a section of free response questions. The student will let me know about the upcoming topics the teacher is going to cover in school in advance so that we can start working on these concepts when we meet.
