Yesterday, the student and I worked on her homework assignment. Again, the homework reviewed proportions and solving for x. She has displayed that she has a good grasp on these concepts, and she did an excellent job on the homework. We also went over adding/subtracting decimals and rounding decimals. I left her with a reference guide to rounding decimals. Based on the past few sessions, we'll plan on spending our time working on using the equation of a line to find the slope and then either x or y. Additionally, we'll continue to review concepts that she needs further review on.

In this evening session, we worked in the area of math. Specifically, we completed a task that involved adding and subtracting with like fractions. In this task, she utilized strategies learned in school and reviewed by me, particularly converting from an improper fraction to a mixed number.

The student is really getting the hang of the essays and the vocabulary, especially. We went over some more difficult exercises and she was able to maneuver through them very well. Overall, she is still improving steadily!

In algebra we studied for the student's matrices quiz and did preparation for the chapter test. In chemistry we did a review of chapter 4, introduction to bonds (ionic and metallic bonds). She got 100% on every quiz she took today.

Student A showed great improvement last night. We worked on addition and subtraction problems using the bar model. She was able to successfully answer word problems using the techniques. Student B has improved the speed with which she does mental math problems. She has memorized her multiplication tables up to the 9s.

The student had a quiz the following day, so we reviewed the topics that were to be covered. At first, she struggled with finding the slope of a line from the graph (particularly differentiating positive versus negative slopes). However, after reviewing the concepts and doing several practice problems, she improved greatly. At the end of the session, she felt confident about all the topics to be covered on the quiz.
