Learning is one of the most rewarding experiences in life, so I'm passionate about helping people a discover that experience. I've worked in various teaching-related roles for the past 4 years, between summer camps and volunteering at after school programs. I've tutored for 3 semesters at Northeastern in Algebra 2, Pre-calc, and Intro levels of Macro and Micro economics.I absolutely love tutoring math, seeing homework problems get completed is incredibly satisfying. More importantly, learning to think through a problem critically and really understand why your answer is right is a very important skill that applies to all problem solving in any phase of life. The reason I've chosen to study Finance and Economics is to apply that same critical thinking to bigger/more applied situations such as running a successful business and developing economic policy. My tutoring style is very conversational. It's important for me to identify what a student understands and what they don't, from there I work to outline the reasoning that goes into finding the right answer. I'm here to guide a student, and empower them to perform the same sort of critical thinking on problems they face in the future.

I recently graduated from Babson College with a bachelor's in Science. I was born in the Dominican Republic. I moved to the United States when I was eight years. Throughout my education career, I worked in a variety of different fields. The one thing that remained the same for me, was my mission to help others.I enjoy helping others because seeing them happy, makes me happy. In high school, I decided to run my own tutoring services, where I helped middle schoolers with their language levels, both English and Spanish. I also tutored in the math field. When it came to Algebra, I also frequently tutored my high school friends. One efficient strategy that worked for me was having the person I tutored, tutor me back. Having them teach me how to solve a problem, or how to pronounce or say something correctly, showed me if they learned something, or were still confused.I consider myself to be an outgoing person. Someone who likes to meet new people. I also liked solving problems. Combining these two, was where my passion for teaching began. When I was younger, I wanted to be a math teacher. It was something about standing next to the board and pointing out the series of steps I took in order to get to the correct answer.Enough said about me. I am here to serve as a resource. I can help you with Spanish, English, Algebra, Math, and many other subjects. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me :)

AP Italian Language and Culture Tutor • +31 Subjects

I absolutely love teaching! I've taught ESL, Spanish and Italian to students ages 7 through adulthood! I teach Spanish and Italian in a high school during the day and then teach ESL to adults and young children two evenings each week. During the summer months you'd think I'd rest right? Nope! I take my amazing 12 year old son and we travel to Central America to help build homes during the morning hours and I then spend the afternoons alternating between a middle school and a high school teaching ESL. I consider myself blessed to say that I have a career doing something I absolutely love and enjoy!I was raised in New York and received a B.A. in Hispanic Languages and Literature from SUNY Stony Brook. While doing my undergraduate study, I concentrated my studies in the Central and South American regions. My Master's degree is in Romance Languages (Italian/Spanish), also from SUNY Stony Brook. When I am not teaching or studying, I enjoy reading, going to the movies, boxing, and traveling! Well, I think that about wraps me up in a nutshell!Looking forward to meeting you soon!-Esme

I'm a graduate student working on a degree emphasizing statistics, computer science, and biology. I enjoy working with students of all ages to find strategies to help them learn better and prepare for taking the next step with their education. I have a diverse background in many fields, including writing, music, biology, and mathematics. I've worked as a graduate school TA and been responsible for designing lectures at the graduate level. I've worked abroad and within the United States with language learners hoping to increase their mastery of English. I look forward to finding a way to find how you learn best for yourself, in the hope that you can apply what you learn over an entire lifetime and not just on this week's test.

I graduated from Moravian College with a double major in math and political science before earning my masters degree at Lehigh University in the field of public policy. I worked as a writing tutor for three years while an undergraduate. While securing my masters degree, I worked with the United Way in researching best practices for programs aimed at helping older adults, as well as statistically evaluating performance data for programs receiving funding through the organization. I have also worked on a congressional campaign and assisted my alma maters Department of Institutional Research in appraising the colleges value relative to other liberal arts colleges across a variety of academic and financial metrics. As a child of two professors, I developed an affinity for the teaching tradition from a young age. I deeply believe that every student possesses the capacity to improve in any area, and as a tutor my sole objective is to help my tutee to do so. I like to think of tutors as catalysts, guiding students through the learning process while allowing enough room for them to develop their own skill set and walk away from a tutoring session as a more confident independent learner. Working as a writing tutor, I developed the active listening skills and aptitude for constructive criticism crucial to aiding students in any subject.I am highly proficient in mathematics and a highly proficient test taker, scoring in the 99th percentile on the GRE. I consider myself a very intuitive and systematic thinker, able to deconstruct and solve problems of any nature in an efficient and incisive manner. While test-taking can be stressful for students, it neednt be. With the right preparation, any student can learn to navigate standardized tests, and I am here to equip students with the same processes that allowed me to thrive. In my free time, I greatly enjoy listening to music and playing guitar. I am also a committed runner and an avid reader.

I whole-heartedly believe that no student should ever be left behind and that any student is more than capable of succeeding academically. All it takes is having a teacher that is dedicated and understand the individual needs and learning styles of the student. That is what separate's me form the rest; I am adaptable.I worked for Massachusetts Institute of Technology summer programs for high school students and have worked inner city schools in Boston, MA at many grade levels developing programs and have seen this philosophy work and come to life.Let's make this learning experience unique and fun!

I have always enjoyed teaching others. As a scientist, my job is to not only explore a new topic deeply but to be able to spread that knowledge onto others. Tutoring is one of the ways I can do that. Whether it is understanding the math or figuring out how to balance an equation better or why you did something in a lab for the lab report I know that I can help you improve your understanding and approach for the subject, not just help you improve your grade while also improving your grade.I am a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago where I was a TA and graduate student earning my masters in chemistry. I did research into DNA damage detection, or to put it simply, I did research on how cells find problems with their own DNA and ways that that goes wrong. I enjoyed my time in Chicago: good food, good friends, and you do get used to the cold winters. For undergrad, I stayed relatively local at Franklin & Marshall College. I can honestly say that I loved my time there where I was involved in student leadership, rugby, and research. Sometimes I even hung out with my friends. As for now, I am transitioning to living back in the Philly area and thought it would be an excellent idea to tutor. I still play rugby and try to find time for friends and family that have missed me while I lived in Chicago. This has been an excellent journey and I am more than happy to see how this new chapter proceeds.
