With nine years of experience tutoring in a variety of settings, I have had the pleasure of helping hundreds of students improve their grades and progress intellectually. Whether it was the Division I college football player who needed to improve his grade in a difficult statistics class in order to remain eligible to play, the high school junior trying to pass the AP Economics test to get ahead in college, or the class full of 8th graders who needed extra preparation for high school math, my emphasis on cooperative learning and dialogue has never failed to find a tutoring method to accommodate individual students' learning styles.My experiences include teaching a summer algebra class through UW-Milwaukee's Upward Bound Program, tutoring in Political Science, Economics, and Statistics for the University of Oklahoma Athletics Department, managing a team of nearly 40 volunteer tutors at Madison West High School's Schools of Hope program, and delivering review sessions to packed college lecture halls at the University of Oklahoma as an Undergraduate Teaching Fellow. I worked as a Master Tutor for the Milwaukee YMCA's Sponsor-A-Scholar program focusing on math and indepently developing and delivering a five week ACT prep course. I have experience teaching students statistics, algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and calculus 1 and 2. All subjects must have a solid foundation, but especially in mathematics, unless the basics are solid, you cannot move to the next level. If you don't fully understand algebra, you can't solve more difficult problems than algebra such as trigonometric functions and calculus. We help students who want to build a solid foundation. It also assists students preparing for the ACT exam. Mathematics is a very interesting subject.

During weekdays, all I do is tutor. I'm a member of AmeriCorps, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to bettering student's lives through education. I'm what the Corps calls a Math Fellow, or Tutor. For the 21-22 academic year, Saga Education has hired a select group of Fellows including myself to go into disenfranchised communities throughout the nation and teach math at local high schools. I tutor three 1 1/2 hr sessions a day. There are 4-5 students per session. Saga Education provides with a basic curriculum, but we tutors are the ones who write the lesson plans. So, how is my other job relevant and how does it benefit you students? Well, in addition to the learning materials Varsity provides, I can offer additional word problems, flash cards, notes, lesson plans, tests, quizzes, etc. Study with me, and I promise we'll never run out of learning material! Moreover, I promise to create a safe learning space where everyone can express their thoughts, ask questions, make mistakes, and trust one another!In addition to tutoring, I'm a senior at the University of Utah. Next year, I'll be graduating with a bachelors in accounting & a minor in writing and rhetoric studies.

Understanding the world around us opens up so many doors, its a shame that learning has developed a reputation of being not fun. When students learn how to harness a difficult concept, questions are answered and new ones are discovered. I have studied motivation in educational contexts and have held various teaching/mentoring roles. Having graduated 1st in my class with a Masters degree, I know what it takes to succeed in academic settings. It is effort, not innate ability, that makes people excel. I try to put forth this effort and learn in all areas of my life, including my hobbies like cooking, skiing, hiking, and reading.
