I am currently a Biology Pre-Med student at Kent State University and I am getting my minor in ASL. I work as a tutor both here and for my college and am working towards getting my CRLA Level 1 certification. I enjoy teaching and I hope to be able to help as many people as possible; my goal for the future is to get to teach English and other subjects abroad before I get my master's! I am proficient in tutoring students in math, reading, writing and science for elementary and middle school, as well as chemistry and biology; though my favorite class to tutor has to be biology or algebra. I firmly believe in teaching students not only the subjects they need help with but also how to learn similar things in the future. After all, the real goal of tutoring is to get to a point where it isn't needed anymore! In my free time, I am an avid reader and baker, and I am currently teaching myself how to figure skate.

I didn't get into Yale because I'm naturally smart. I'm not that guy that can just look at a problem on the board and just figure it out in seconds. I hate asking that guy for help because he doesn't know how to explain somethinghe just gets it right away. He's never sat down and broken it down. I never was that guy and I will never be that guy.I will always be that guy that stays after class to asks questions because I didn't get it right away. I will always be that guy that is in office hours from start to end until I get it right. My whole life I have always been the guy on the other side of the table. I am the guy who always gets tutored, and that is why I make a great tutor. I know how people want to be helped, I've been there. I love tutoring people in anything: college essays, algebra, linear algebra, calculusanything I have ever loved to do. Tutoring has taught me empathy and patience. Two vital components that a great tutor has. I am hard working and I love seeing others succeed.I will able to tutor for most of this summer, so about from the end of May to mid-August. I am on break and would love to tutor. I will be able to tutor for about 20 hours a weekor more, depending on what comes up this summerpreferably during the day but if evenings are prioritized then I can work evenings as well.

I majored in Biology and minored in Chemistry and Mathematics at Northeastern University. I also have a MS degree in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science from the University of Wisconsin. Everyone has a different learning style and pace. I like to use my patience and well tuned perception of others to work with individuals on the same playing field rather then expect them to understand what I know via a lecture. I have an extensive background in the sciences and have worked with individuals as a swim coach, ski instructor, lifeguard captain, and mental health counselor among other experiences. My passions include the outdoors, athletics, science topics, working as part of a team, and being an ocean rescue lifeguard during the summer. I became interested in tutoring after receiving feedback from younger family members who told me I was much more effective than the paid tutors they were using. I am currently preparing to apply to medical school and hope to use this position to make a little extra money in addition to my other job.

I received my undergraduate degree in Psychology & Experimental Neuroscience from Elon University, located in North Carolina. Shortly thereafter I began to work towards my PhD in the field of experimental neuroscience research. My strongest subjects include statistics, math, and the sciences. My favorite subject to tutor would have to be statistics, mostly because I have taken so many classes in this subject that it is like second nature at this point. Outside of my education, I am an avid golfer. As a scratch handicap, I went to college on scholarship to play for a Division I NCAA team.

I am currently at the University of Texas at Austin pursuing a bachelor degree in petroleum engineering. Since January 2016, I have been tutoring Math and Physics at my current college. These two subjects are my favorites because I am proficient. My tutoring style consists in having my students complete some practice problems that encompass the concepts they do not understand in order to identify their needs and help them master what could not before. My interests outside of academia consist in playing soccer and swimming. Also, I like to watch documentaries and movies, to read books, and to go for a walk in my neighborhood.

I am a graduate of SUNY University at Albany. I received my Bachelor of Science in Economics and Japanese with a minor in History in 2010. Since then (and even before as a sub) I have predominantly been teaching in the New York City public education system. I had worked as a substitute teaching assistant since 2008, moving between dozens of NYC public schools before finally settling in late 2011 at M.S. 216 George J. Ryan--an incredibly diverse middle school in Queens. During my tenure in the school system I have spent time teaching students from Pre-K to 12th grade, from all cultural background and socioeconomic statuses. Regardless of whom I have taught, I have always enjoyed it, partly because I often learn as much from my students as they learn from me. Regardless of the subject, I love teaching, and I find it to be one of the most rewarding and meaningful activities, which cliched as it may sound, really can make a difference in people's lives. Besides teaching, I am also keenly interested in the human body, specifically biomechanics, kinesiology, and rehabilitation through movement. I am currently enrolled in a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program at Washington University in St. Louis, which I should finish in 2018.I started tutoring in 2012, when I went back to school (Queens College) in order to take all the necessary pre-med courses for my DPT program. My first tutoring experience was with struggling peers in Biology, Chemistry, and Anatomy and Physiology. I dove into test-prep tutoring following my own experience preparing for the GRE, hoping to pass on some of the hard-won skills and knowledge. Currently I tutor a wide-array of subjects, though in particular I love teaching standardized tests like the SAT and ACT, as well as the sciences and math. Besides my interest in these areas, there is a particular joy watching a student hit their score mark in a test and seeing their hard work pay off. And when I hear back several months later about my students getting into their top choice for college, it always makes my day. When I'm not teaching or studying, I compulsively read, learn languages (currently working on Mandarin), practice gymnastics, and obsess over food.

I attended Carnegie Mellon University with a focus on Acting and Medieval Literature. I grew up in a family of teachers, and I spent my years in high school and in college working as a peer tutor. While at university, I also served as a part-time English teacher at two elementary schools in inner city Pittsburgh. Since college, I have lived and worked as a tutor in New York, Los Angeles, and Barcelona. While I tutor a wide range of subjects, I am most passionate about English, History, Math, and the SAT. I am fascinated by the SAT. I love teaching struggling test takers how to view the SAT as an approachable, accessible set of riddles and games instead of as an intellectual brick wall. I firmly believe that the majority of people can find great joy in academics once they discover the individual approach that works for them. I see it as my job to help them find that path. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, rock climbing, running, travel, and reading. I am also a section editor for the Los Angeles Review of Books and the literary manager for two theater companies based in New York and Los Angeles.

I'm a recent grad of Stony Brook University with a B.A. in Psychology. I use my discipline of choice to break down the learning process and find the best individually tailored approach for each student. My favorite subjects are English, Math, and, of course, Psychology. Two of my specialties are SAT/PSAT and AP Test preparation. I received a National Merit Scholarship for the PSAT, ranked above 97th percentile in each area of the SAT, and achieved National AP Scholar with Honors. In my free time I enjoy gaming with friends, playing percussion, and listening to a variety of music. I hope to apply my education in Psychology to a career in game design someday. In the meantime I use the same principles to make lessons fun.
