I am applying to medical schools to attend Fall 2016 and I like to play basketball, go backpacking and volunteer with youth in my free time.

I am a graduate of Yale University with a B.A. in Literature, including studies in modern fiction, comparative literature and communications. My professional sales and marketing background includes several decades in industries ranging from retail and hospitality to TV programming and distribution. Years of management experience taught me the importance of teaching, practice, sound strategy and motivation to improve any performance. I also have an advanced math aptitude that I put to use in business analysis, problem-solving (for fun!) and tutoring middle- and high-school students. I have tutored all subjects and strategies for ACT and SAT test prep. I am also the parent of teenagers (boy and girl), who have helped me understand the value of patience and encouragement when tackling high school studies and tests. My personal interests include sports, movies, music and technology.

I am a graduate student who will start their PhD from University of Maryland in Applied Mathematics this fall. I completed my MSc in Applied Mathematics from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich in Switzerland. I did my Bachelor in Science, majoring in Mathematics, from Lahore University of Management Science in Pakistan.

I am a recent graduate of University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill where I earned my Bachelor of Arts in Biology and Womens & Gender Studies. Having been a science nerd throughout high school, I knew that I would want to study biochemistry at university, but I also wanted to strengthen my writing, analytical, and research abilities in a non-scientific context. So focusing on both was perfect for me because I was able to develop analytical and problem-solving skills in two very different contexts. Having this background also allows me to feel comfortable tutoring a range of subjects.

I am also passionate about Texas Rangers baseball, and fill an inordinate amount of my free time with fantasy sports and statistical research on the sport.

I am also very patient and persistent. I put a great effort into explaining concepts until they are well understood.

I am not someone who is satisfied when a student memorizes steps to solve a problem. I always want the student to understand what he/she is doing and why they are doing. This insight will make them a stronger, faster and better student, particularly in the field of mathematics. This brings the student long term results that could extend far beyond the work done in the tutoring sessions. Mathematics is my love and economics is my passion and because of this I bring incredible enthusiasm for the subject to my work.
