As a passionate advocate for STEM education, I hold a Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of South Florida, where I developed a strong foundation in subjects like biology, physics, and calculus. Although I have experience tutoring for less than a year, I have engaged in diverse teaching roles, including mentoring high school students in a biomedical engineering program and tutoring underclassmen in college-level courses. My approach focuses on understanding each student's unique background and learning style, allowing me to break down complex concepts into manageable parts. I find joy in fostering a supportive learning environment where students can build confidence and independence in their studies. I am excited to inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers through engaging and creative methods.

As a high school student and later on as an undergraduate student, I faced difficulties with some of my math courses and higher level chemistry courses. The main obstacle to my success in these courses was having teachers who did a poor job of explaining challenging topics. Frustrated and disappointed in my shortcomings, I retook Algebra I in high school and Organic Chemistry I, in college. Repeating these courses with new instructors allowed me a fresh opportunity to learn and master many of the challenging topics I had faced. With hard work and commitment to excellence, I earned 100 in Algebra I, and A+ in Organic Chemistry I.Among other life lessons, facing these two challenges showed me the power of good instructors, and more importantly, how to approach difficult topics. The best technique to understanding new concepts is to start with an easy related topic. For example, what is the atomic radius trend of periods in the periodic table? To understand the answer, you would need to know the electron affinities of metals and nonmetals. Knowing how metals and nonmetals behave, will allow you to understand electron affinities. In addition, understanding the octet rule and the desired electron state of each atom is essential to answering the question. Lastly, answering the question without understanding why nonmetals radius is smaller than metals is meaningless. My goal for each tutoring session is to get my students to change the way they approach answering science based questions. While the alternative approach of memorization might be helpful in humanities, it would be fruitless in science or math courses. Once you understand the why behind the answer, the next task is to practice working on a variety of questions. To efficiently maximize our time together, I come prepared with worksheets on many challenging topics. At the end of each session, I ask my students what topics they would like me to cover the next session. If applicable, I incorporate relevant regents questions.Although I am available for home tutoring, my strong preference is for library tutoring. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to me. Thank you.

I graduated from Emory University with degrees in chemistry and violin performance. I am currently working as a medical assistant in dermatology until I start medical school in the fall at the University of Illinois College of Medicine. I have always had a passion for helping others, and one way I could do so was by tutoring students so that they could achieve their full potential. During my time as an undergraduate, I was a part of the Emory Dream Project, a student-run organization that tutored at a local high school. I helped students with their algebra, trigonometry, and pre-calculus coursework. I particularly love tutoring math and physics because there are many different approaches to solving one problem. If one way does not make sense to the student, we can try another method that may click with them.

I graduated Valencia College with an Associate in Arts degree. Since then, I have transferred to University of Central Florida, and I am again transferring to another college, Florida Polytechnic University, to continue my pursuit of a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science. I have always enjoyed math, and I want to be able to help and teach students to understand one of the most difficult subjects taught in school. In my free time, I love to watch movies, go out shopping, or hang out with my friends.

I am passionate about helping students because I know that with the right academic and socio-emotional support and explanation, everyone is capable of learning and succeeding. I know how difficult it can be to learn mathematics, and I know I have gained a lot of tools and ways of understanding the concepts that I can share with others. In mathematics as well as other classes, I know how important it is to have self-confidence and perseverance to solve difficult questions independently.I've worked with students in middle school all the way up to college, which includes students age 18 all the way to 70. At the Metro Achievement Center in Chicago, I tutored middle school students for a year and high school students for two years to improve academic performance by setting semester-long and weekly academic goals, social-emotional learning goals, and improving study habits. Throughout the year, the students I tutored and I tracked progress and saw that students improved academic performance as a result of gaining social-emotional and academic tools. I have tutored and graded college students' work with the University of Illinois at Chicago for 3 and 1 year. Thus, I am familiar with the content and expectations of algebra, trigonometry, precalculus, and Calculus 1, 2, and 3. Overall, I have challenged students resulting in a deeper overall understanding of content, an increased understanding of expectations and how to meet them, and increased self-confidence regarding their ability to do mathematics.I am completing my final semester at the University of Illinois at Chicago to earn a Bachelor's of Science in Teaching of Mathematics at the secondary level. I will receive my licensure to teach mathematics in high school during the summer. I am certified to tutor Math, Middle School Math, Pre-Algebra, Algebra 1 and 2, Geometry, Trigonometry, Pre-Calculus, Calculus 1 and 2, English, and High School English.
