I love nature and all things STEM, and my friends know me for having endless fun facts about the natural world. I'm on the women's rugby team and a member of the Dartmouth Humanitarian Engineering club, and I love to hike, bike, and snowboard in my free time.I grew up in New Rochelle, NY where I attended New Rochelle High School. My favorite subjects were AP Biology, AP Environmental Science, and Marine Science. I started tutoring as a sophomore in High School, and since then have tutored primarily in Chemistry, Earth Science, Geometry, Physics, and Algebra I and II. In addition to STEM, I am confident in my skills as a concise yet descriptive writer, and I scored a 35 on the ACT, so I'm also qualified to tutor in these subjects. I recently graduated from high school with an advanced diploma in Math and Science, achieving a 95+ score in all regents tests. I have tutored students at my temple and at my high school. Even though I have tutored many subjects, my expertise is in highschool math and science classes. I also teach chess, having a 1200+ rapid rating. I greatly believe in teaching with fun and passion and I try my best to make the learning process for my student as fun as possible. In my spare time, I usually practice magic tricks and I might incorporate tricks in my lessons.

My 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Hicks, was more than a teacher to me, she was a mentor. She left a remarkable imprint on my childhood image and motivated me to become more self-confident and actually become interested in learning. As I look back, I see what made me such a good student had a lot to do with the fact that she took an invested interest in me and she was a good communicator. She was able somehow to incorporate the right balance of praise, support, and discipline in her methods of education. From this I learned first hand that a teacher can make a difference in a child's life.It has always been my goal to incorporate this ideology into my teaching; whether it was teaching Junior High School music students in Clinton, IL, or preparing High School students at Avondale Performing School of Arts, Atlanta, GA for musicals and competition meets, or giving private voice lessons in my vocal studios.It is my job, as a Music Educator, to offer an education about the voice as an instrument, how it works, and how it is used. I graduated Summa Cum Laude from Franklin & Marshall College in 2021 with a B.A. in Moral Psychology and a minor in Russian Studies. Previously, I've participated in workshops with F&M alumni in education, interned with an arts-based preschool, and recently finished tutoring at my local school district, working with second graders and K-5 students; in the future, I will be serving as an ESL co-teacher overseas through the Fulbright Taiwan program. As the first in my family to make it past elementary school, I have always understood the power of knowledge and the opportunities it can afford you. Even more importantly, my goal is to instill a love of learning into my students because there is no better intrinsic motivator, and this drive is what humans appreciate the world in which we live.

I'm currently applying for medical schools and hope to matriculate in the fall of 2017.I tutor a broad range of high school and college subjects, but my favorites by far are Spanish and chemistry. I started studying Spanish when I was 10 years old, and fell in love with the idea that suddenly I could communicate with a whole other community of people. Since becoming fluent in Spanish, I've continued to pursue my love of languages by studying Arabic and Mandarin Chinese in school, as well as picking up German from my Austrian family and French from my travels. I'm currently teaching myself Russian with the online learning software Duolingo.Chemistry has always been my favorite of the three core sciences, as it's more concretely observable than much of modern physics, but more connected to underlying physical principles than biology. My approach to teaching chemistry is to always keep in mind its connection to the other sciences, which can facilitate a better grasp on many chemical concepts.My approach to tutoring is based in the Harkness philosophy of teaching, which gives a great deal of responsibility to the student to figure things out. I will make sessions as interactive as possible, using as many non-academic resources as I can in order to help students think of subjects as life skills rather than material they must know for a test. I want students to be motivated to learn for the sake of learning something new, rather than simply to pass a test.When I'm not tutoring or writing my medical school applications, I enjoy teaching myself new languages and reading works by authors such as Haruki Murakami, Ernest Hemingway, and James Joyce.
