I am a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross where I received a Bachelors of Art in French. I studied abroad in Strasbourg, France during my junior year, where I initially began tutoring private clients of all ages in English. I returned to France after graduating, to participate in the English Teaching Assistant Program in Bordeaux, where I worked in two elementary schools by helping to facilitate lessons, read stories to students, and work with small groups of students to complete English assignments. It was in Bordeaux that I realized my passion for helping students succeed and went on to serve two years in a 6th grade math class as an AmeriCorps Member through a Teaching Fellowship upon returning to the United States. I continue to serve students by working for an education nonprofit that focuses on increasing students??? grades, attendance, and good behaviors. I do this work because I believe that all students deserve a quality education and that educators can and should do better at providing individualized support to students. In my free time, I also enjoy baking, hiking with my dog, taking on fitness challenges, and crafting.

While pursuing my graduate degree in English Education at Manhattanville College, I have been fortunate enough to spend a significant amount of time in various classrooms. My undergraduate education has provided me with a lot of English-specific knowledge while also enabling me to work in other content areas including math and test prep. I am currently attending Purdue University where I just finished my Freshman year. I graduated from Plano East Senior High in 2020. I tutor a broad range of subjects including math, science, and history. I became a mechanical engineering major because I love math and physics and learning to apply it. My tutoring gives high school students the skills they will need to succeed in college and college students the skills they will need to graduate. I tutor using a technique-based approach, which can apply to a wide variety of subjects and is not limited to history or writing.As someone with a love for antiquity, I enjoy studying and teaching classical Japanese martial arts and have done so for fifteen years. Although I did not finish my degree in animation, I did acquire some unique skills and experiences in the realm of fine art and drawing.I started pursuing subjects that interested me and was specifically pulled toward the sciences. I was lucky to have had several exceptional teachers and their guidance inspired me to obtain a degree in Chemistry. It was during this path to obtain my Bachelor's degree that I was introduced to my favorite subject, Organic Chemistry.The instructor that I had for Organic Chemistry was amazing and made the class not only amusing and interesting but also fun. The experience of understanding Organic Chemistry inspired me to pursue a Master's degree specifically in this subject.While in graduate school, I was a teaching assistant and this was very rewarding for me as I had the opportunity to share the knowledge that I had gained over my college years and pass that information on to students that were currently taking the class. It was this experience that caused me to realize that I really had a passion for teaching. During college I provided homework help and college preparation for high school students in Oakland and I worked as a literacy tutor for elementary aged children. Since graduation, I gained three years of experience as an after school program tutor leading educational games and computer-based tutoring. Even though I have a strong background in English, I can also tutor elementary to middle school math. My favorite subject to tutor is Math because understanding the basics opens up a whole new world of numbers to explore. I am very patient so I don’t mind giving my students a moment to grasp a concept or describing it in new ways until it is better understood. My philosophy is that students just need support and encouragement when they are frustrated with the problems they are trying to solve. Aside from trying to bring out the potential in students I enjoy a myriad of hobbies including playing guitar, juggling, and bowling.
