Statistics Tutoring review by Anna in Cupertino, CA
Today the student and I started by discussing terminology. As her test is coming up next week while she is out of town, it is very important to understand what the various terms mean. We next started to discuss probability. This material is slightly more complicated, as it begins to apply the logic behind statistics. I recommended that she read through the entire chapter before our next meeting (next Thursday) to help with understanding.

During this session we started reviewing the first four chapters of the book to prepare for the student's exam on Thursday. We covered the different types of variables, experimental vs observational experiments, different methods of graphing data, and mean, median, mode, variance, and standard deviation. The student followed well with the material and retained the concepts well. We will continue reviewing tomorrow for the exam.

Statistics Tutoring review by Alex in Cupertino, CA
In our first session, we discussed and drilled normal distributions and z scores. We worked on problems asking for probabilities based on a given z score and z scores based on a given probability. He grasped the material quickly and felt more comfortable solving a wide variety of problems. No concerns to report. She has extra homework from class to work on between our sessions.

Statistics Tutoring review by Chandler in Cupertino, CA
We introduced differences between parameters of two populations. He was able to intuit that this would probably be useful in comparing control groups to experimental groups, so I invented a problem that involved a controlled test for the effectiveness of a new drug. He was able to solve it. We also were able to cover proportions and means, so next week will merely be reviewing and practicing.
