We spent most of the time on reviewing what she did in class and tackling finding the areas of regular polygons, but the student needed a quick refresher on how to use sine, cosine, and tangent. I believe she became more confident at the end of the session.

We started with a worksheet, which involved multiplying decimals. The worksheet started fairly easy, which he commented on, and then gradually got more difficult, with a few word problems. I had to teach him the difference between area and perimeter and walk him through how to calculate area of a rectangle, which he did a great job on afterwards. After completing the worksheet, we worked on his word problems, which were a bit more difficult. He did a great job tonight staying focused.

After reviewing some triangle geometry, we moved into larger and more complex shapes. We looked at quadrilaterals and talked about how to reduce larger shapes to triangles before moving into volume and surface area. Some of this content was new, but the student did very well with it. We briefly looked at line geometry, with which he displayed immediate mastery, both with accuracy and skill. Next session, we are going to look at plots, tables, and statistics before we move into the final stretch of looking at speed and accuracy.

We also covered combining these derivations with other derivative rules (chain rule, product rule, quotient rule). Everything seems to be going well.

The student is progressing each session in terms of her writing confidence, which is great to see. She wrote a 10 page paper for her other class on her own, and during our session, she finished her paper #4 draft. She is very good at the thesis component and introductions/conclusions and is getting stronger with the overall paper layout.
