First, the student and I talked a little and got to know each other. We then went general information regarding the ACT and its structure/content, along with extensive test-taking strategies and tips. Then, we focused in on the English section and went through three different passages, with the student attempting the questions first and then us going over them together. Finally, we went over the categories for the general types of questions covered by the English section and test-taking tips specific to this section of the exam. Next session we will focus in on the math and science sections.
