Federal Way, WA Physics tutoring
The student is most of the way through the opening kinematics topics and getting into forces and energy. During our first session, she and I talked about where she is in her class, identified exams she has coming up, decided when to next meet, and did some practice problems. She already has shown that she soaks up information readily and was able to do all of the types of problems at the end of the session that had given her trouble initially. The test going forward will be to see how she handles the class' transition to discussing force and work as abstract principles in dealing with energy. This is a place where students often hiccup, so I think it is a great time for her to have started seeing a tutor. I recommended she do plenty of practice problems and, next time we meet we will design a strategy for mastering this unit and acing her final.
