Math Tutoring review by Stephanie in Santa Fe, NM
The student and I went over how to use hypothesis testing to compare two sample means and the different approaches for doing this. He worked through his homework that covered this topic. He is doing very well at setting up and solving problems on his own.

Math Tutoring review by Amy in Santa Fe, NM
The student and I went through her notes and worked through sample problems from the two chapters that she's being assessed on this week; the material is on Chi-square testing and regression analysis. The student had a good basic understanding of the material, and we cleared up some confusion about conceptual meanings and calculations. I suggested that she review her sample problems once more regarding recognizing problems types and using the required language.

Math Tutoring review by Ava in Santa Fe, NM
The student and I worked on 9.6 and 10.1, which covered identifying conic sections and applying the counting principle respectively. The student was able to determine whether a conic section was an ellipse. circle, parabola, and hyperbola by implementing the discriminant formula which will be on her quiz tomorrow. She was able to pick up these concepts very quickly and was even able to memorize the formulas and steps to identify the conic sections. We also worked on factorials as well as the counting principle with or without repetition. She was able to grasp these concepts as well in a very fluid and quick manner. Overall, she did an excellent job and I am very pleased with her progress today and overall.

Reviewed Conic sections to prepare for tomorrow's test. Went through a variety of Hyperbola types of problems. The student understands the concept, however, tends to work too quickly and make minor errors when distributing or forgetting the negative. Briefly went over circle and ellipses and the student seemed very solid in those areas.
