"Today, I first went over angles and parallel lines with the student. I covered adjacent, complementary, right, supplementary, straight, and vertical angles. I then defined parallel and introduced corresponding, alternating interior, and alternating exterior angles and proved they were congruent. I then went over interior and exterior angles and proved they added up to 180 degrees. I then started on triangles. I proved the the angles of a triangle are equal to 180 degrees using what we learned about parallel lines. I then defined right triangles, isosceles, and equilateral triangles and went over their properties."
"Today, the student and I covered chapter 3 of his geometry book, which was all about parallel and perpendicular lines. He did really well with it. Overall, he is on track with his studies in Geometry."
"Today, the student and I focused mainly on a few types of geometry problems involving angle and area. We also reviewed the flashcards from last week and factoring, and I hope to add some of today's geometry work to our daily review. We ended with word problem practice, which is still tricky for her, but once she has a problem set up, she is able to solve it without much issue. We will continue to work on this."
"Today, the student and I went over some algebra. We reviewed number lines for her class, and she felt very comfortable with them! We then worked on her geometry homework. This included material such as circles circumscribed within a square and arc lengths. Next week, we will be meeting again to review material for her state assessment test."
"Today, the student and I went over the Chapter 1 test in her Geometry textbook. We went over lines, points, rays, collinear points, non-collinear points, coplanar points, and non-coplanar points. We also went over midpoint and distance formulas and their applications. We reviewed how to apply all of the geometry concepts we have learned thus far, especially area, perimeter, distance formula, etc. all in the same problems. We are going to start going over each chapter test together as per her mother's request. She felt the student needed more guidance on these. I will do this and give the student that Chapter Review for homework as it has explanations and reviews alongside the given problems. This might help her be more successful with the practice work I give her."
"Today, the student and I went over trig functions and multi-step trig problems. He seemed to really have picked up this material quickly, and we were able to do several complex examples. Our next direction is to use trig functions to solve word problems to show him how these functions are applicable to everyday life. He really seemed to enjoy this topic. I am assuming both because it was new and easily understandable for him. He starts school tomorrow, so I am excited to work with him to make sure he is successful in his 8th grade year and is ahead of the curve."
