We've had the BEST experience with VT! Our tutor has helped my middle schoolers math grades come up from a D to an A for our 8th grader. and from a D to a B for my 6th grader. I'm beyond pleased with how she connected with my boys.

Geometry Tutoring review by Mehreen in Antioch, IL
After reviewing all of last week's material (7.7) and ensuring she is okay with all the concepts on her own, we moved forward to the next section on quadrilaterals and polygons (8.1-8.4). I have given her formulas to memorize based on what we learned in these sections. She is currently ahead of her class curriculum

We are reviewing the course up to this point to help the student prepare for the midterm. Generally, the understanding of the concepts is there and it is just a matter of applying and working the algebra to get the answer. The student should be ready for the midterm.

Student only had a couple of things to go over today in our session. We went over various concepts such as linear angles, obtuse, acute, and right angles, complementary and supplementary angles, and the midpoint and distance formula. She seems to have a much better understanding of these concepts and feels comfortable with the material.

Geometry Tutoring review by Margaret in Antioch, IL
The student and I studied for an exam she has tomorrow on special right triangles. We worked through old homework problems, paying special attention to problems she struggled with. We made flashcards with the rules for each kind of triangle. Her ticket to success is memorizing these rules like the back of her hand. We also went over her homework that is due tomorrow covering sine, cosine, and tangent. These are new concepts for her, but with practice, I know they'll become second nature.

Geometry Tutoring review by Katrina in Antioch, IL
We reviewed the following topics in preparation for the student's test: special right triangles (45-45-90 and 30-60-90), basic trigonometric ratios, the geometric mean theorems for altitudes and legs, simplifying radicals, and the definition of angles of elevation and depression. I observed that she is very adept in manipulating numbers. In the future, we will review and practice some concepts from Algebra, including expansion of binomials and simplifying radicals. We will also work on writing down each step clearly so that she can easily check her work during quizzes and exams.

Geometry Tutoring review by Richard in Antioch, IL
We began this session by going over the drive-in screen problem from last Wednesday. The student learned about sin and cos and the inverse functions of all three trigonometric functions since last week, and the online homework as well as a worksheet were about using these skills. He has a good fundamental understanding of how to use sin/ cos/ tan and the Pythagorean theorem in conjunction with each other in order to find missing variables. We reviewed his homework, both online and paper, and I believe he understands the core principles. I continue to emphasize the importance of taking problems step by step to avoid mistakes, and while he is improving, he still wants to race through a problem when he feels like he knows how to do it. We will continue to work on that. He remains very friendly and easy to work with each time we meet.
