Finance Tutoring review by Lindsay in Santa Fe, NM
The student and I reviewed Chapters 5 and 6 of the Official SAT Guide--those cover sentence completion and passage-based questions. We discussed the following strategies: looking at the charge of a sentence and the context of each blank (positive or negative); boxing clauses, conjunctions, and other transition words as well as negatives and identifying their purpose (e.g. to indicate agreement, contradiction, dependence, or temporal context); underlining key phrases or hints within each sentence. When using these strategies, the student missed only one question in 10. However, we will need to continue improving his speed in order to match the pacing of the test. The student should be taking his practice SAT in segments this week, on a schedule we agreed to on Sunday, and emailing his responses by Friday. He was too busy last week to complete a practice exam.

We also did a couple of tax problems for fun.
