Entomology Tutoring FAQ
If you aspire to work as a zoologist, or enjoy learning about living creatures, then you might need to have a foundation in entomology. While the study of insects may sound revolting to a number of people, learning habits and behavior of various insects is an important component of a number of fields, including agriculture and horticulture.
There are a wide variety of reasons why you might choose to enroll in an entomology course. Along with simple curiosity about the vast number of insect species known to inhabit Earth, you may be taking a biology class focused on insect anatomy or the role these species play in ecological systems. Perhaps you are planning on conducting entomological research and want to brush up on the Latin names of various insects and the way in which they are organized into scientific taxa, or maybe you are preparing for a career in public health, conservation biology, forensic entomology, paleontology, or another field where this knowledge is paramount.
No matter your goals in learning about insects in detail, entomology tutoring might be just the thing to help you bolster the skills and gain the knowledge you need to succeed in your entomology studies. Whether you are having a hard time differentiating between similar-looking species, memorizing all those Latin names, or remembering which species reside in which climates and areas, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with an entomology tutor who can help you master the specific aspects of your entomology studies that are giving you trouble.
When you contact Varsity Tutors, you will be given hands-on assistance finding a tutor who is best suited to assisting you in conquering your particular goals. Your tutor can then design a learning plan for your tutoring sessions based on your specific concerns and any tests or projects that you will need to face. During your one-on-one entomology tutoring sessions, your tutor can make use of teaching strategies that mesh well with your preferred learning style, and he or she can spend as much or as little time on each topic as you need to in order to master it. There is no need to be concerned about keeping up with or slowing down for the rest of a class, as your tutoring sessions are all about helping you learn entomology by mastering the aspects of the subject that you find confusing. In addition, your entomology tutoring can be convenient, efficient, and effective. Your tutor can travel to meet with you when and where it best suits your schedule, and tutoring can be arranged to address short-term or long-term goals. One of the biggest benefits of working with a personal entomology tutor is that you have someone who is dedicated to your specific needs. In addition, she or he is happy to work around your busy schedule, and meeting times can be arranged at a time that is best suited for you. By having more control of when, where, and how lessons take place, you are able to learn stress free and on your own terms.
Many students enjoy learning from the comfort of their own home. However, you can choose to study anywhere that is comfortable for you. Your tutor is happy to meet you at the park, in the back of your favorite coffee shop, on a university campus, or anywhere else in person in your area. If you can't make a lesson due to scheduling conflicts, the Varsity Tutors live learning platform allows you to meet with your tutor face-to-face online.
The breadth and detail of material covered in entomology can make finding the precise instructor to work with a challenge. However, Varsity Tutors can help you connect with the tutor best suited to your needs. Streamline your studies and master the aspects of entomology that you find confusing with a one-on-one entomology tutor, available nationwide. Recent Entomology Tutoring Session Notes
Student 1 and I reviewed 5.2 and 5.3 for his biology quiz. We talked about population density, factors that influence population size, and birth vs. death rates. Then, I discussed human population dynamics. Student 2 and I went over the chapter of her textbook on populations. I explained exponential and logarithmic growth and what limits population size. We reviewed how environmental factors can alter a habitat and limit a population's distribution. Lastly, we discussed how our knowledge of other organisms' life cycles can be beneficial.
My first session with the student covered mostly his genetics chapters for biology; we reviewed his last test and some sections of the book to make sure all the concepts were clear. He was pretty solid on this material, but I will bring additional visual aides next time to help him and help myself explain in better/more detail. We also worked on factoring math at the end of the session and he has a very clear grasp of that subject, I think we should be able to move forward from that section easily.
Today, the student and I worked on Biology. I talked on the phone with his mom and was told that he is not doing well in Biology and needs more help with a make up test he is taking this Thursday, which covered Genes and DNA. The student and I went through a PowerPoint and a worksheet on DNA, replication, transcription and translation. I then tested him on the terminology and the objectives for this test and he did quite well.
Today we were covering his review worksheet on evolution to prepare for his test on Friday. As we worked through some of the questions together he seemed to have a better understanding of some of the theories that different people came up with and the concepts.
Focused on Biology and American Government, the two classes in which the student has requested extra time. Finished up a lab report illustrating the concept of natural selection, and went over the chapter on natural selection, discussing both Lamarckian and Darwinian theories of evolution, and emphasizing the five components of Darwin's theory. We went over 4/5 end-of-chapter questions, and I asked her to finish the remaining one. For American Government, she recalled that in class they had discussed two landmark court cases. We discussed both cases, and I had her summarize them in her notes and talk about their significance.
During the session, a more specific overview of learned topics was completed. Details were added to cellular division and energy usage. The figures in the textbook for cell structure were also utilized to help review and define the key structures/functions of different cell types.
