Villa Park CLEP Chemistry Tutoring FAQ
You may have already mastered the content of college chemistry courses through advanced coursework in high school, self-study, or from having worked in the chemistry field. If you are an advanced student, an introductory college chemistry course may seem like a superfluous requirement. Beginning or returning to college can mean the opportunity for chemistry course credit at many institutions; all you have to do is prove your understanding on the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) Chemistry test. This test offers you the chance to demonstrate to your college or university that you already understand the material covered in many introductory chemistry courses, allowing them to grant you credit for these courses and you to use your valuable time at school much more efficiently. Even for top students, passing the CLEP exam in Chemistry represents a much different challenge than mastering chemistry in a classroom. Chemistry is an abstract and richly conceptual course; as a result, it can be difficult to translate directly into a multiple-choice examination. It is therefore in most students' best interest to enhance their test-taking abilities before jumping in and taking the test, which is where a CLEP Chemistry tutor comes in.
Even if you have remarkable knowledge of the fundamentals of chemistry, it would be a big risk to not develop your test-taking abilities before such an important exam. Developing test-taking skills, however, can be as challenging as studying chemistry itself. Like any learned skill, working with a knowledgeable expert can help you start on a path to success. Varsity Tutors can help you connect with personalized CLEP Chemistry tutors all across the country. CLEP Chemistry tutors have taken and excelled on the CLEP Chemistry exam and are eager to show you how you can do the same. You can work with your tutor in one-on-one, individualized sessions and focus your time and energy on reviewing the topics and strategies that you need to work on the most.
Stop wasting time by going over skills and content you already know in crowded review courses or with generic books, when one-on-one CLEP Chemistry tutoring sessions can help you develop your skills efficiently. By passing the CLEP Chemistry exam, you can have more time to dedicate to other endeavors to impress graduate schools or potential employers. Studying material you already know is an enormous waste of time, and can be avoided entirely thanks to the CLEP program.
Simplifying the process doesn't happen with just any tutor. These experienced, flexible tutors can meet in person or face-to-face online on your time to compensate for a busy schedule of classes, work, and other activities so you don't miss out on valuable personal instruction. Experienced chemistry tutors will also meet wherever is most convenient for you, even the comfort of your own home. To start, they'll provide a detailed assessment of what you know and need to work on, and then keep track of how you proceed with assignments. Each lesson can be custom-tailored according to how quickly you catch on and the level of proficiency you demonstrate. That would never be possible in a classroom with 30 or 40 students, or where the instructor has to move through the lesson plan regardless of how quickly the people catch on. Your success on the CLEP Chemistry exam should not be tampered with. The final score will impact your academic path; the more advanced a course you can start out with, the more quickly you can move ahead in college.
Don't risk your performance on the CLEP Chemistry exam to any other resource. Contact Varsity Tutors' educational directors and let us help you connect with a CLEP Chemistry tutor in your area today!

Recent Villa Park CLEP Chemistry Tutoring Session Notes
We continued working on grammar during today's session. Today's practice was presented in a different format than yesterday, and the student's accuracy was much better. Today we spent quite a bit of time working with parallel structures. The student struggles with recognizing incorrect parallel structures, but he doesn't have much trouble when using them in his own writing. I also had the student work on correcting sentences, much like he will have to do on the test. He did well on these sections.
Focused on the math section. I was impressed with how much he improved. Perhaps he partially remembered the answers to the questions from a month ago, but I think he understands the concepts a lot better and is much more comfortable with the types of questions as well as the formatting. He is also more test savvy and knows to guess (as opposed to omit) when he can eliminate one or two answer choices.
The student and I focused on the writing section. She scores really well on the essay (10) but said she has trouble with the multiple choice. We identified several points of grammar that are regularly tested (parallelism, subject-verb agreement, misplaced modifiers), and the student immediately started to see a rise in her score. She still gets tricked by the subject-verb questions sometimes but she knows to be on the lookout for them.
The student had worked with his mother on a few topics between my sessions; he asked me to help him complete a practice worksheet with a few problems. Some of these he had already answered, and was able to explain clearly his work. One or two of them, however, he had provided the wrong answer, and I worked with him on determining the correct one. We also spent time working on practice problems from a set I had downloaded from the internet.
The student and I reviewed a practice test she completed. Her mom and I discussed her test results on the previous PSAT. After reviewing another math practice test the student, her mom and I discussed a plan to prepare her for her PSAT in October. This will include going over Geometry topics she has yet to cover with her summer Geometry class she is currently taking.
The student and I first reviewed the math section I had assigned for homework. She did well on the questions she attempted, but she seems hesitant to try to work through the ones that she feels are unfamiliar to her. With encouragement, however, she is capable of solving many of these problems. That said, substitution is one topic that she is consistently having some trouble with, so we will review that more in depth. We also reviewed ratios and proportions before working through part of the science section of practice test 3.
