...and tutoring. I am most passionate to tutor Calculus, Linear algebra, and ACT/SAT Math. I believe that the biggest obstacles to learning Math are 1. judgmental social environments and 2. inexperience with the multidimensional nature of math. As such, I foster an open environment where all mathematical questions and concerns are welcome and I always strive to teach three key mathematical skills: identifying context, pictorial intuition, and algebraic manipulation. I look forward to working with...

I am always interested in hearing what the learner is thinking because I think a lot can be learned from listening to how an individual is arriving at a given perspective. I will show students the fundamentals, here's the pedals, this is how the break works, etc. Then I'll ride the bike around for a moment so they can see how it's done and that it's not so scary. When it's their turn to ride (i.e., apply the knowledge that we are studying) I follow closely beside them, only intervening if I...

I am passionate about optimizing the learning of my students through the simplification of difficult concepts. My goal is to empower students to practice and improve upon the things they find most difficult. A class with me involves the use of many examples that are related to the concept the student is struggling with. Even though theory is important, it is often more useful to practice in order to understand the theory.

Calculus 2 Tutoring FAQ
Calculus 2 is a college level math course, which is typically taken by students who have successfully completed calculus 1 and who wish to continue with their mathematical studies. It is an advanced course, which can be challenging for some students to fully master. If you're having some trouble with your calculus 2 coursework, you may be unsure of where to turn. Your professor may be willing to help you out some, but may not be able to devote the time to you that you need to reach your full potential in the class. Students in this situation often find it helpful to begin calculus 2 tutoring. If you're interested in working with a calculus 2 tutor, you can contact Varsity Tutors today to get started with the process.
College calculus 2 tutoring can help you no matter what aspect of calculus 2 you're having the most difficulty with. Some of the topics that can be covered in tutoring are:
Integrals
The application of integrals
Parametric vector functions
Sequences and series
Differential equations
Calculus 2 tutoring works well because it provides students with an academic opportunity unlike any other. Tutoring differs from a traditional classroom learning environment in that a student will work with their calculus 2 tutor in a one-on-one setting. This means that every tutoring session is based on the unique needs of the student rather than the needs of an entire group of students, as is typically the case in a normal classroom. You can receive customized lesson plans that are based on your needs. You can work through these lessons at your own speed as well. Private tutoring gives you a chance to learn calculus 2 in a way that just isn't replicable in other settings.
You may have already started searching online for "calculus 2 tutoring near me". If so, you might have noticed that it can be challenging to find a tutor who is able to help you and also able to work around your existing schedule. Varsity Tutors can help you with this by connecting you to a tutor who can meet with you when and where work best for you. You could even work with your tutor online through a live virtual learning platform. This type of flexibility means that you won't have to make sacrifices in the other important parts of your life just to get the calculus 2 help you're looking for. Recent Calculus 2 Tutoring Session Notes
We discussed problems involving application to integration. That was where we had to set up integrals representing the volume or area enclosed by several functions. On these problems, I gave the student a basic understanding of what to do when tackling those problems. After the session, he said that integration is now making a lot more sense and I was happy to see that he is learning from this tutoring session.
We went over the rest of the material in chapter 8 which was using more trig substitutions, partial fractions, L'Hopital's rule and finally improper integrals. By now she should be familiar with a ton of integration techniques.
Worked on approximating integrals with left, right, and middle approximations. He is completely competent in that now. Also reviewed more trig sub and partial fraction decomposition.
Improper integrals and applications of integrals including volume of integral around axes using washer and shell methods, work and averages in Statistics (Mean Value Theorem). She picked up the volume problems easily. She had obviously worked problems and just needed some insight into the setup. I sent some pages with worked examples from my textbook to assist her.
We used definite integrals to calculate volumes of solids that are rotationally symmetric. We calculated center of mass and various quantities from density functions. Homework was reviewed and various points from lecture notes were clarified.
We got to know each other somewhat, established a schedule, and went over what the course had covered so far. Then, we discussed what the student had recently learned about sequences and series, and worked through several practice problems.
