How much does a 7th grade math tutor cost?

The price of 7th grade math tutoring depends on several different things, including how often study sessions take place and the specific concepts reviewed. For instance, a student who reviews geometry with their instructor every Thursday night may be charged a different rate than someone who wants to review how to write an algebraic equation the day before a big chapter test.

We can also set your student up with more affordable options, including group tutoring sessions where students can split the cost of an instructor and an online 7th grade math class provided by Varsity Tutors. Our Educational Directors are standing by to answer any questions you have, so please do not hesitate to get in touch with us.

How does online 7th grade math tutoring work?

Your student's tutoring sessions will take place on our powerful Live Learning Platform: a virtual classroom equipped with a bevy of great features to facilitate face-to-face instruction anywhere with a strong internet connection. For example, your student's 7th grade math tutor can integrate practice problems directly into the platform's interface for a hands-on study experience.

Similarly, video chat capabilities ensure that your student can ask for help with statistics and probability or another topic just as easily as they could in a traditional classroom. Our platform also records every session automatically, allowing you to keep tabs on your student's progress. Your student can also view previous sessions to get a refresher on anything they've reviewed in the past.

Are 7th grade math tutors worth it?

Working with a private instructor can improve your student's self-confidence, help them develop study skills, and encourage them to feel more comfortable working with numbers. That last point is huge, as there are a variety of exciting career fields that demand some knowledge of mathematics.

Independent studies also say that working with a math tutor can help a student improve their test grades by 4-6 percent, even if they are already a high-achiever. We're pretty confident saying that math tutoring is worth it.

Of course, every student responds to tutoring differently. If you're ready to find out what it could do for the student in your life, contact us online or by phone right away to get the process started. We look forward to hearing from you!

Online 7th Grade Math Tutoring review by Michael
Today, the student and I studied for his upcoming test on solving and graphing inequalities. We studied the last two sessions on this material, with him successfully being able to demonstrate his knowledge of the material. We focused on two areas he identified as being "difficult": solving inequalities with fractions, and tips to graphing negative expressions on a number line. I gave him some practice problems, he got the hang of it, and we both think he will do very well on his test tomorrow. I believe this is the last session for us for this academic year. He has come a long way in the few months I have been tutoring him. His work is more organized, he is more focused, and he is more driven towards academic success than when we started. I think he is in a great place academically and developmentally to ensure success in 8th grade.

The student's mother and I have agreed to meet for tutorial sessions on a daily basis. On Monday, he and I worked on percentage change problems, and he appeared to understand the concepts, as he managed to do most of the problems with minimal help! I believe that if I have more time with him, then he should be ready for his final exam.

The student and I reviewed the first part of Chapter 8, 1 of 3 chapters that will be covered on his final exam, this week. I helped remind him of the main concepts of each section and then we proceeded to do practice questions, to test his understanding. He seemed to do very well, and is still working on slowing down, and showing all steps instead of just doing mental math, which in the past has led to some errors on his tests. I left him with some practice questions, and asked him to review Chapters 6 and 7 for our upcoming session on Wednesday.

In this session with the student, we went over his math homework dealing with the Pythagorean theorem. We discussed the general formula and how it relates to the two sides of a right triangle and hypotenuse. We covered several problems from his homework dealing with this, and discussed the best way to solve it. We also discussed how to find the area of a triangle. He did well understanding these concepts.

The student and I worked on geometry problems. I created a worksheet and we evaluated how to find area and volume of different geometric shapes. The student struggled with correctly interpreting the formulas so we practiced writing the formulas and correctly filling in each value. I also adjusted some of the values because it was difficult for him to distinguish between B (base of triangular prism= area of triangular base) and b (base of triangle). The student and I then started work on his end of year project for school. He intended to do a project on WWI drones. We started by doing some research, but he was unsatisfied. I suggested that he do some more research from multiple sources and then we could compile his work next week. I also left him a geometry worksheet.

I spent the first hour with one student working on angles and triangle problems for his math test. For the second student, we went over points, rays, line segments and lines, and right angles. I did not leave her with any extra practice, and have no concerns from this session.
