What is your teaching philosophy?
Students learn best when they are challenged. The notion of constructive challenges in task orientated teaching sets students up for academic success.
What might you do in a typical first session with a student?
Students will be given both a formal and informal pre-assessment designed to provide data to better target areas of instruction. The assessment will be short - but targeted to either domains or standards.
How can you help a student become an independent learner?
By enforcing strengths that the student already has in academics. Various exposures to different methodologies to approach a problem often nets gains for students.
How would you help a student stay motivated?
Content and material that is both engaging and relevant to the student goes a long way to keeping them motivated.
If a student has difficulty learning a skill or concept, what would you do?
A unit of instruction with a targeted assessment for areas of struggle will inform me which content needs to be retaught, differentiated, or enriched.
